1st law of motion
By: Shana Johnson
Description
Objects at rest stay in rest, objects in motion stay in motion unless an external force acts on it.
A table is not going to move unless you move it so it will stay as rest because it is at rest.
Another thing that can be described as the first law is the motion of an airplane when the pilot changes the throttle setting of the engine.
A book is kept on a table, it will not move unless someone uses force on it,
How we use it
Newtons first law of motion is seen a lot as it applies to normal things in a day to day life
Driving a car is a very good example. The car is going to sit there not moving until i get in it and drive so unless i get in it and drive, the car will be at rest and stay at rest. Another example is me riding a bike, crashing into something and falling off. With me being somewhat of a clumsy person, this seems to happen rather quite often. Now yes the bike itself is moving and my legs are moving from peddling but my body would not be flying off the bike unless there was a force that moved me off that bike.
