ALICE
This week all Sherwood students took part in ALICE discussions. Using the mentor text, I'm Not Scared, I'm Prepared, our class explored, evacuation, one of the methods of reacting to an active intruder. Our class discussion will help in preparing for our first Active Intruder Drill scheduled for Wednesday, November 20th at 11:00 AM. ALICE, an acronym for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate, is the new model in which North Shore School District 112 has adopted as an options based approach to ensure school safety. The counter method will not be instructed or practiced at the elementary level. The lessons themselves are age-appropriate and allow for safe conversations in the classroom.
We reviewed Stop. Look. Listen. Your child is bringing home their review activity. Please ask them to explain it to you. Let me know if you have any questions.
Fire Drill
We will have our second fire drill on Monday, November 19 at 9:00 AM.
