UNCOMMON EFFORT | UNITED MINDSET | SERVANT LEADERSHIP
PURPOSE PRINCIPLE
If there is a true "Captain" among the team, it really doesn't matter, and should not matter who you give that designation to. Leaders will find ways to lead regardless of their title.

GRACE HOSTS NECC FOR SPORTSMANSHIP SUMMIT
WINONA LAKE, Ind. – Grace College hosts Northeast Corner Conference for Sportsmanship Summitege and Director of Athletics Chad Briscoe welcomed student-athletes from the high schools of the Northeast Corner Conference for their first-ever Sportsmanship Summit on Wednesday.
Several student-athletes from each NECC school attended the conference, which was designed to educate student-athletes about sportsmanship and character training in athletics.
“We are pleased to be a part of building character at the high school level through the Sportsmanship Summit,” Briscoe said. “We hope it served as a great opportunity to educate and reinforce character education and to help promote the importance of sportsmanship for each student-athlete.”
“It was an amazing opportunity for our student-athletes! But looking at the big pictures, this event brought together over 140 individuals throughout the NECC Athletic Conference. Student-Athletes learned valuable principles that can be applied within sport, and in life. When partnering with Grace College to begin this journey, our hope was that the student-athletes of our schools would be educated on character, sportsmanship, and leadership, while also having the chance to build relationships with individuals who are typically seen as nothing more than opponents. I believe this event helped to unify our athletic conference!” said Lakeland Athletic Director, Roman Smith.
Students from NECC high schools spent the day together working in groups to discuss and challenge one another in sportsmanship and character-building opportunities in the athletic realm. The students worked in team-initiative opportunities to build camaraderie among the schools in the conference.
The Sportsmanship Summit featured sessions from Roger Grossman, Joey Graham and Briscoe. Student-athletes also took turns sitting on a panel and answered questions in a peer-to-peer teaching
