Chapter 7 Red River Ox Cart
History
An Ox Cart is a large two-wheeled cart. Often pulled by oxen, horse or mules. It helped a lot with the 19th century and the fur trade. Also helped with the western expansion in Canada & United States. The ox cart also passed through the Red River Valley a lot and into Minnesota.
Advantages
One advantage is that the ox cart got people where they needed to be faster than they could have if they walked or was on horseback.
Disadvantages
A disadvantage is if you had to much weight on the cart & it broke.
Inventor
They aren't completely sure on who invented the Ox Cart but, the guy who took the credit was Alexandria Henry jr. who they later discovered didn't have a part in it.
