Cape Cod Tech's January Update
January Update- 1/15/2021
Good day,
As our academics return in person for the first time since December 18th and some students have changed their remote/in-person status, there are some changes to our bus routes. PLEASE review the bus schedules below the calendar before Tuesday so you know your morning pick up time. We apologize for all the adjustments, but with running two bus schedules with 11 buses it is necessary.
I hope everyone had the opportunity to meet with their student's teachers last night. If not, please reach out. Here is a link to the teachers' directory. Staff Directory Please reach out.
Below you will also find the Updated 2021 School Calendar for the remainder of the year...we hope. Below the 2020-2021 calendar, you will find the February and March Blue/Yellow Cohort Calendar.
Thank you,
Mr. Terranova

Bus Schedule Changes
We slightly altered some of the bus schedules. Please visit the link below for the new schedule beginning January 19th.
Influenza Vaccination Requirement Removed
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health is removing the requirement for flu vaccination for attendance in childcare/preschool, primary, secondary and postsecondary education. Preliminary data show that this has been a mild flu season to date, presumably as people have received their seasonal flu vaccine and have been adhering to mask-wearing and social distancing due to COVID-19. Given the intensive Commonwealth-wide efforts regarding COVID-19 vaccination, DPH wants to alleviate the burden to obtain flu vaccination and focus on continuing our COVID -19 vaccination efforts.
DPH continues to strongly recommend that everyone age six months and older receive their seasonal flu vaccine each year.
The updated schedule can be found here.
Happy New Year,
Well, we finally reached 2021. However, we seem to still be haunted by the remnants of 2020. Superintendent Sanborn sent a message on Friday, January 1st informing the Cape Cod Tech Community that we have instituted a buffer week to gauge possible virus exposure in our school community, and we will be remote for the week of January 4th-8th. I have included his message below this opening in case folks missed it. I also included a schedule for the week so parents and students are clear on the expectations.
This decision to enter the year in a remote setting will not damper our spirits nor our hope for a calmer 2021. There are many exciting events expected in the coming weeks, including the ninth grade's induction into their chosen technical areas. Please see below for other information and events.
Below I have included a calendar for January that marks which days each academic cohort will attend school. .
January 1, 2021 Message from Superintendent Sanborn
To All Members of the Cape Cod Tech Community,
Happy New Year! To provide a one week buffer from the possible COVID implications of holiday travel and festivities, Cape Cod Tech will be in a remote learning model next week, January 4th through January 8th. Principal Terranova will provide further information to families tomorrow regarding the schedule.
Thank You,
Supt. Bob Sanborn

MCAS Information For Parents of 11th Graders
October 21, 2020
Dear Parents/Guardians of Members of the Class of 2022:
As you are likely aware, the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent school closures for in-person learning this past spring resulted in the cancellation of state-mandated English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics MCAS tests for your sons and daughters this past spring. The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) recently released the schedule to the right for testing the affected students during this 2020 - 2021 school year.
After careful consideration, the Cape Tech English Department is unanimous in recommending that your sons and daughters participate in the Next-Gen Computer-based MCAS test administration during the period from May 18 - May 27. The Cape Tech Administration is in agreement with this recommendation. However, it is necessary for parents/guardians to opt-out of the January 2021 test administration if your child will test in May 2021.
Following, please find a link to a Google Form where you are asked whether or not you wish to opt-out of the January 2021 testing as recommended.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to respond to the form. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions.
Best regards,
Anne Wagner
Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment

Blue Academic Cohort consists primarily of students whose last names begin with the letters A-K
Yellow Academic Cohort consists primarily of students whose last names begin with the letters L-Z.
School Bus Protocol
I recently reached out to DESE in regards to this protocol, and they shared the following information:
DESE recommends opening windows at least several inches and that students wear layers of warm clothes so that windows can remain open.
Mr. Terranova
What do I do if I need to quarantine?
If you need to quarantine due to travel, proximity to a person ill, or possibly even a positive test result, please continue to access your learning remotely. This is not an option. If you do not access your classes (academic or technical) remotely you will receive 0 for the expected work and be marked absent.
If you are isolating due to illness, a counselor will speak to your parent or guardian and make a plan.
