Message from YOUR Proud Admin Team
Wow, what a great week! We continue to be encouraged and in awe of the great work, significant connections and creative developments YOU continue to make as we move into a very different rhythm of teaching and learning. The Google Meets, virtual lessons, and challenges all “take it to the next level” in support of our students and families. Keep up the great work and thank you for your continued dedication. We have included in this S'more some important updates to help follow up on previous guidance. Please keep your questions and suggestions coming, as that is how we know what is helping and what may need some additional discussion and/or adjustment.
Grading - Last week communication was shared regarding grading. That guidance specified what teachers should do if a student’s grade average in the class falls lower than the 1st semester grade in the class or lower than the student's average on March 12 in the class. Access is available now on the employee portal to an archived copy of Synergy from March 12. Teachers can review grades in their grade book and run reports, but cannot edit any grades. Use this grade report to guide your support with students whose grades have dropped since the digital learning began. Remember to communicate with the student, parents, support staff, and Assistant Principals to collaborate on ways to support any student who is struggling. Flex Friday is an opportune time to support kiddos whose grades are less than their previous performance.
*If you have emailed and called the parent of a student who is not logging on and submitting work, please let your AP know and they will send a letter via mail and collaborate with Mona and our school assigned Social Worker.
Elementary and Middle School Report Cards - This year the district will be mailing report cards for elementary and middle schools. We will print report cards, address labels and place the report cards in the envelopes. Stacey will be sending out a report card timeline this week.
Virtual 5th Grade Finale Celebration - Sheri and the 5th grade team are putting together a Virtual 5th Grade Finale for Tuesday, May 19. Sheri will share more at the upcoming Staff Meeting.
Parsons Talent Show - We are working on putting together a Virtual Talent Show to be shared the last week of school. Students, families, and staff can participate. The Google form linked below will go out today in the eNews so we can see how many peeps plan on showing off their talent. This form is due back on May 1. Participants will be asked to upload a picture or video of their talent on a Padlet link that will be emailed to them and due on May 8th. More information will be shared at the Staff Meeting.

Another week...and y'all CRUSHED IT!!!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for making this Digital Learning "stuff" work! I continue to get emails and notes from parents sharing the appreciation they have for what YOU ALL have done for their kids. I do hope they are letting you know personally the many positive effects of them conducting the lessons that YOU are providing for them! Make no mistake...they're not homeschooling, they're following directions that you give to them! YOU are the brains behind the learning that is happening across our Parsons' community. So...again - THANK YOU for what you are doing and how you are growing as educators in the 21st Century!!
Much love to you all!

We love our seniors!
(From GCPS)
We love our high school seniors! Now you can show your support for the Class of 2020 with a social media profile frame! If you’re on a mobile device, go to your profile and click the camera by your profile picture. A window will pop up with the top option “add frame,” and from there you can search GCPS or “GCPS We Love Our Seniors."
Once you've saved your new Facebook profile photo and frame, you can share your photo to Instagram by tapping your profile image and clicking the “view profile picture” option. When your new profile image comes up, tap the three dots in the top right corner and select “save to phone” or “share external.” You will see an option to share your photo on Instagram or you can upload your saved photo from your device.
If you’re on a computer, go to your profile and click the camera on your profile picture that says “update.” A new window will pop up with an option to “add frame,” and from there you can select and position your new profile frame following the same steps listed above. You also can access the frame directly here: https://bit.ly/gcps_SeniorsFrame
