Gun control in the U.S.

The United States has more guns per capital. Guns are very lethal to begin with but when they are so easily attainable, it makes the crimes committed, even more lethal. In addition, about 40% of gun sales are conducted without background checks. (Everitt 22)

Mass Shootings

In December, 2012 a elementary school in Newtown, CT was targeted by a mass shooter. 26 people were killed including 20 kids and 6 adults. If gun laws were stricter, possibly the shooting wouldn't have happened. Adam Lanza, the shooter was able to acquire the guns by getting them from his mother's gun collection. The guns used were semi-automatic guns, most pro gun rights people would argue that guns can be used to protect people but nobody needs a semi-automatic gun for "protection."
