Help Us Help Kids With Diabetes!
You can make a change!
This is seven year old Tommy. He loves to play with his dog and enjoys learning about math. His favorite thing to do is go to the playground with his friends. Sadly, Tommy has diabetes. Diabetes causes him to have to urinate frequently, along with blurred vision. I bet we can all see how that would be a problem for a child that goes to the playground. Stem cells can help our little Tommy become well.
What are Stem Cells?
Stem cells are undifferentiated cells of a multicellular organism that are capable of giving rise to indefinitely more cells of the same type, and from which certain other kinds of cell arise by differentiation. Stem cells can be found in adult tissues, such as bone marrow or fat and they can also be found in embryos. Stem cells can be made into any kind of cell that the body is in need of. Therefore, they can really help with all kinds of illnesses.
