Kresson Elementary School
Weekly Newsletter - Ms. Stacey Morris, Principal
September 15, 2022
Dear Kresson Parents and Guardians,
Thanks to everyone for coming out last Friday night to celebrate our return to school. We had great weather and an amazing turnout for our Welcome Back Picnic. A huge thank-you to our KPFA and 5th Grade Committee volunteers for organizing this event.
Tomorrow we will have our first district wide Spirit Day. The theme for tomorrow is TEAMWORK and we look forward to seeing everyone "sport" their favorite team attire.
Looking ahead to next week... we will have our Back-To-School Book Fair from September 19th thru September 23rd. Additional information on our book fair has been sent from Mrs. Richards. In addition, our School Picture Day and Back-To-School Night presentations will be on September 20th, followed by Start Strong testing for grades 4 and 5 on September 21st and 22nd. As always, we will have a busy week ahead. Below you can find additional details on these events.

Mrs. Andrew and Mrs. Palmer will be available from 5:45pm - 6:45pm in Room 23.
The Back-to-School-Night program is designed to provide you with the opportunity to meet your child’s teacher and gain an understanding of our academic programs, plans, and activities. We are happy to be welcoming parents in-person this year. However, we will also offer a virtual option. Directions on how to log in virtually will be provided separately. During classroom presentations, our teachers will address a variety of topics related to the current school year. The classroom presentations will conclude at 8:30 PM.
Please note that this program is designed specifically for parents only. Children will not be allowed in the classrooms and babysitting services are not available.
The Kresson staff and I look forward to your attendance at this enjoyable and informational school event.

Security Drill Notification
“Governor Murphy signed into law P.L.2021, c.365.in January, 2022. Part of the new law is the requirement that a school district provide written notification to parents/guardians following completion of a school security drill by no later than the end of the school day on which the school security drill was conducted. These notifications will take effect immediately and you will receive a written message after our school has a security drill.”
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have about this new procedure. This will be for security drills only and not include a fire drill.
Information from the Nurse
Medication Information:
All parents are reminded that the following procedures must be followed for our Nurse to administer medication:
- Medication must be in the original container.
- Medication must be labeled with the child's name, name of the medication, and dosage.
- Written orders from the physician and a note from the parent giving directions for the time, dosage, purpose of medication, side effects, and termination date must accompany the medication. This policy applies to prescription as well as over the counter medication such as Tylenol. The Voorhees Township Medication form can be downloaded from the nurse's website.
- The physician may fax the completed medication form to Mrs. Uscinowicz's attention at the school fax number at 856-424-9076.
Kindly contact the nurse, Mrs. Dorrie Uscinowicz, at uscinowicz@voorhees.k12.nj.us or by calling 856-424-1816, extension 2161 if you have any questions.
Allergy Information:
Some students have life threatening allergies to peanuts, tree nuts, fish, dairy, fruit, or other foods. Teachers will inform parents if they are in a peanut/tree nut classroom. This will mean no one in the class can have a snack that contains peanuts and tree nuts. I would ask that all families pack peanut and tree nut free snacks until September 16th. This will help the school ensure the safety of these children. Here are some general guidelines regarding this topic.
- The nurse is on the premises all day. This allows the medical professional to address concerns while students are present in school.
- Many members of the BERT Team (Emergency Response Staff) are Epi-Pen trained to address an allergic reaction. Epi-Pen training for delegates is required once a year by NJ state law.
- There is a list of children with allergies available to the principal and both secretaries, and is centrally located with a listing of who has an epi-pen and all those staff members that are epi-pen trained.
- Epi-Pens are housed in the main office as a central location by state law.
- There are CER staff members who supervise before and after-care who are also Epi-pen trained.
It is important to note that there will no longer be edible birthday treats permitted in school. Non-food items such as pencils or crayons are allowed. There will be no exceptions to this rule.
Absence or Lateness to School Information:
Please call the nurse's office absentee line by 9:00am when your child is going to be late or absent from school. Please call 856-424-1816 and press the number 1 when prompted to leave your message. If you need to speak to the nurse regarding the absence or lateness, please press 3 when prompted for the school nurse's office. You will receive an automated call from the school if your child is marked absent and the nurse is not directly informed of the absence.
