West Oxford Owl
March 17, 2023
It was a great week to be a West Oxford Owl! Second grade learned about weather, as fifth grade observed our community garden plants continue to grow. PreK had a visit from a leprechaun! Classes had discussions about kindness and ways they are kind to others and have experienced kindness. Please continue these conversations at home.
At the March board meeting, our school board approved the use of metal detectors in Granville County elementary schools. We have asked to be part of the initial roll out. We will keep you informed.
Kindergarten registration and PreK applications are available online here and in our office.
Please mark your calendars:
- The third quarter ends on March 20th.
- Krispy Kreme orders arrive on March 21st.
- Our PBIS cook out is on Thursday, March 28th. Students need 75 dojo points to attend. That same day is early release and parent conferences.
- Our spring break will be April 7th-14th.
West Oxford Baptist has invited K-5 students to join them on a three day day camp experience at Camp Oak Hill over Spring Break. The program will run for three full days from April 10th-12th and transportation and meals are provided. Fliers will go home with students on Monday. This not a Granville County Schools event.
Oxford Parks and Recreation would like to invite all your students to our Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday April 1 2023 at 10am. The Easter Bunny will also be making an appearance.
We are excited to announce our Duke Energy Science Night on April 20 from 4:00-6:00!
Join us in exploring science, technology, engineering and mathematics through engaging hands-on activities such as making paper circuit robots, testing the power of air, building catapults, and much more! We welcome students and families for a night of science and fun! Look for more information to be sent home with your child. You can also contact us with questions. Duke Energy Science Nights are an initiative of the North Carolina Science Festival. The North Carolina Science Festival is a month-long celebration of science that occurs every April.
