Food Drive
Dear TCE Families,
We want to inform you about a food drive we are planning. It is during the week of Pancake Dinner (April 8th through April 12th). We are collecting food for the Hamilton County Harvest Food Bank. Items that can be donated include Peanut Butter, Mac & Cheese, Cereal or any non-perishable food items. Students can bring in donations anytime during that week or families can bring items during the Pancake Dinner on April 10th.
Thank you for your donations.

Global Studies Update - Spanish
¡Hola!
My name is Stacey Zimmerman, and I am the Spanish teacher for the Global Studies Program. I am excited to be back at Thorpe Creek and working with your children!
During our time together, the students actively learn the Spanish language through whole group and small group games, hands-on-activities, songs, rhythm, stories, and movement. Material is taught through activities that stimulate a high level of student involvement.
First grade students have been working on the numbers 1-10 in Spanish. They have learned greetings such as good morning, good afternoon, good night, hello, and good-bye. They have learned how to ask “What is your name?” and respond to that question.
Second, third, and fourth grade students have been working on numbers to 20. They have learned how to ask “Where do you live?” and respond to that question. They are currently working on identifying shapes in Spanish.
We are having a great time in Global Studies! It is wonderful to see the students’ enthusiasm and excitement to learn about new languages and cultures!
Sincerely,
Stacey Zimmerman

Lunch Menu
First Grade Snack
Snacks in First Grade
TCE teachers understand the importance of fueling both our students’ minds and bodies; therefore, first grade students may bring in snacks to be eaten mid-afternoon. However, due to allergy concerns, the following procedures must be followed:
· Snacks will NEVER be shared by other students.
· Snacks need to be brought to school with the child. If snacks are forgotten at home, parents should not bring the snack to school. If your child forgets their snack, a school-approved snack will be offered to your child.
Snack List:
- Goldfish crackers
- Cheese
- SkinnyPop Popcorn
- Fresh fruit
- Dried fruit
- Veggies – NO DIPS
Volunteers & Lunch Guests
This year all volunteers must have a current background check on file AND watch the anti-bullying webinar before volunteering at school. If your current background check has expired (background checks remain good for 3 years) or you are new to the district, you will need to click on the link below:
https://secure.safevisitorsolutions.com/Safe/Volunteer/SV3109V
You can access the anti-bullying training simply by watching a video also on the link. Make sure to do the online survey at the end to verify you watched the video. As always, call the TCE office with any questions. Thanks!
*Please note that the background check and anti-bullying training is required in order to eat lunch with your child. Lunch guests are welcome after Labor Day . Please call the front office by 9:30 am on the day you’d like to eat with your child to reserve a spot.
