Rock Your Socks Day!
This Tuesday, March 21st, is World Down Syndrome Day. This global awareness day has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012. Lilja, alongside all the Natick Schools, will be rocking our socks!
This year's theme for World Down Syndrome Day is "With us, not for us." People with disabilities have the right to be treated fairly and have the same opportunities as everyone else, working with others to improve their lives. Take a moment to watch this video for more information from the organization. It is important to recognize the difference between holding a space for others to speak and be seen, and doing the speaking for them.
We look forward to seeing everyone's socks, a statement of celebration that we are all different, yet the same.

MURAL UPDATE
Project Update on the Lilja Mural!
We are excited to announce the beginning of tiling on the Lilja Mural! This task has been orchestrated by our art teacher, Ms. Golestani, and generously supported by the PTO and grant funding. The children of Lilja all created and submitted artwork to show "Our Natick Community," which was then used by the artist in residence Joshua Winer to create the final mural design.
Ms. Golestani and Mr. Winer have been working with the students all week to begin the tiling work. The students have been so excited to see their ideas come to life, and we are eager to share these progress photos with you!
The Lilja PTO is a group of volunteer parents. Our goals are to enrich the education of our children, support the teachers and staff, and serve the Lilja community as a whole. We fundraise to supply materials, fund programs, organize social functions, and coordinate parent volunteers, all of which enhance the experience of Lilja students and build a sense of community within the school.
