Wrangler Weekly
August 1, 2021
Welcome Back!
It is with great pleasure that I extend a warm welcome to all of our new and returning students to the 2021-2022 school year at Manford Williams Elementary. I am very excited about this year and anticipate working together with you in a very positive atmosphere that will create a truly productive school experience for all students. Our faculty and staff are eager to begin this new school year.
With the many challenges that we all have faced over the past year or so, our campus motto this year is to "Be a Rainbow in Someone's Cloud." School Spirit Shirts will be available for purchase VERY soon!
The parent/school partnership is very important and communication is key. With that being said, you should look forward to receiving a weekly email update from me every Sunday afternoon to keep you informed of all things Williams! All weekly emails are also saved on our lcisd website: http://www.lcisd.org/campuses/williams/home.
LCISD Connect Family Event
Complete your Skyward Beginning of Year forms
For the 2021-22 school year, all required Lamar Consolidated ISD beginning-of-year forms must be completed online through the Skyward Family Access Center.
Offering these forms digitally allows you the convenience of only updating information that has changed from last school year, while also helping us maintain accurate information in our student information system. Instructions, important dates and technical assistance regarding the online forms can be found by clicking here: https://www.lcisd.org/students-parents/family-access/beginning-of-year-forms. Included below is a document with instructions to reset your Family Access username/password if you have forgotten it.
Online forms will be available through the Family Access Center starting today, Aug. 1, and all forms need to be submitted no later than Sept. 17th. Your student’s schedule will not be available online through the Family Access Center until all of the beginning-of-year forms are completed for your student and after the campus has released schedules if all online forms have been completed.
For those who need access to a computer or the Internet, computers will be available on campus Monday – Thursday, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. starting Monday, August 9.
Tell your neighbors to get registered!
If you have new neighbors or have younger siblings that are not currently enrolled at this time, please urge them to register as soon as possible. Each year our campus is allocated a certain number of teachers according to the enrollment. Many of our Kindergarten and Pre-K students are enrolled just a few days before school starts. I want to make sure that we have enough teachers to meet the needs of our students to allow for a smooth transition for them at the beginning of the year.
Students enrolling in Kindergarten must be five years old on or before September 1, 2021.
Our Pre-K program is available on a qualifying basis. Students MUST be 4 by or before September 1st AND meet one of the following: 1) Language 2) Income 3) Active Military 4) Foster 5) Homeless.
Complete the online pre-registration forms here: https://www.lcisd.org/students-parents/registration, then call 832-223-2700 to make an appointment for registration.
We can't wait to welcome our new Wranglers!
Meet the Teacher
“Meet the Teacher” for all grades will be Tuesday, August 17, 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Please remember this is not a time to hold conferences, but rather a time to meet your teacher and drop off any school supplies you may have already purchased. We have a special “scavenger hunt” planned for all attendees to explore our campus and enjoy a special treat at the end compliments of PTO!
Please make sure that your child’s teacher is informed of how your child will get home each day. If your child’s regular plan should change, we must have a note in writing from you with your signature on the day of the change. In the case of an emergency, you may call the front desk by 2:00pm to get a message to your child's teacher. All changes must be requested by 2:00pm to ensure that we can get the information to your child’s teacher. Instructional time is very valuable; therefore, early dismissals are highly discouraged.
We Wear Uniforms at Williams!
Bottoms: Khaki, black, dark blue pants, or blue denim jeans, capris, shorts, skirts, skorts or jumpers.
Shirts: Red, white, navy, royal blue, sky blue or black collared polo style shirt. School spirit shirts can be worn any day of the week.

Back to School Reminders
- The first day of school is Monday, August 23, 2021. The building will open at 7:00 a.m. Teachers and staff will be available to assist students with finding their classrooms. The first day of school, you are welcome to walk your child to their class, but please leave quickly so they may participate in the welcome back classroom activities teachers have planned. Students must be in class by 7:30 a.m. daily.
- We will continue to implement our procedures that keep our students and staff safe during the school day. Visitors in the building will be asked to sign in through our Raptor system. Visitors for lunch must be listed in Skyward or be accompanied by a parent who is listed in Skyward. We ask that there are no lunch visitors the first week of school to enable a smooth transition for all of our learners as they adjust to new routines.
- Regular school attendance is essential for students to make the most of their education. Absences from class may result in serious disruption of a student’s mastery of the instructional materials/objectives; therefore, the student and parent should make every effort to avoid unnecessary absences. When a student must be absent from school for any reason, the student must bring a note no later than the second (2nd) school day upon returning from the absence. Handwritten notes must be signed and dated by the parent. All notes must describe the reason for the absence and include parent’s contact numbers. Tardies will also be monitored by the campus. If your child arrives at school after 7:30 a.m. a parent must come into the office to sign him or her in for the day. The student will be marked tardy for the day. It is important for students to attend the full school day to receive the instruction provided by their teacher. We highly discourage the early release of students. Students will not be released early from their class after 2:00 p.m.
- We are excited to welcome volunteers at Williams Elementary. Please log onto the LCISD website to complete the Criminal History Background Check application: https://winoc.lcisd.org/workspace/.
