Science Camp at WES
We still have spots available! Sign up NOW :-)
We are so excited to offer Science Camp (for students who have completed 3rd-5th grade) at Wilmore Elementary this summer! We are going to be using the Bot Anne-E curriculum from Invention Project.
BOT ANN-ETM MODULE OVERVIEW:
Children are challenged to transform a polluted wasteland into a thriving farm and
business. To complete their mission, students work with a programmable robot called
Bot ANN-E, which is designed to teach fundamental coding techniques. Children program
Bot ANN-E to accomplish tasks such as tending to a farm, herding farm animals and
navigating a city to learn how automated technology can maximize their time and profits.
Mrs. Gibson will be leading this fun and exciting opportunity. It will be limited to 40 students. The cost of this program is $50 per student. There are a limited # of scholarships available to those whose financial situation makes it hard to participate. Please indicated that need below and I will be in contact through email.

iReady Summer Challenge
It’s June, which means it’s the start of our summer iReady challenge! Your bear cub should aim for 45 minutes on iReady weekly per subject area to prevent the “summer slide.” Just have them track their minutes on the back of this sheet that was sent home at the end of the year and bring it to school on June 23 for a mid-summer treat!
iReady Summer Challenge Details
One boy and one girl that completes the summer challenge will be entered to win a Razor Scooter! We also have several other prize options for all participants.

Summer Feeding
Quick info about what this Summer will look like:
- Nicholasville Elementary & Wilmore City Government Center (former TPS) will have lunch available Mon-Fri for anyone 18 & under
- The "Smiles for Miles" bus will visit 3 locations on Mon & Wed, 4 locations on Tues & Fri, and 2 locations on Thurs.
- Our beautiful Food Service Van (very eye catching!!) will visit one Wilmore location on Mon & Thurs and another on Tues & Fri.
Children will need to stay at the site to eat their lunch (sorry, they will not be able to take the meal home).
A little more information just in case you're wondering.... Any district that is classified as "Rural" is permitted to offer multiple meals at once and meals may be taken home (non-congregate meals). Jessamine is classified at "Urban", so we don't have that option (congregate meals only). I know this will be a topic of discussion....
- Garrard, Lincoln, Franklin, Mercer, Madison, Anderson - are Rural.
- Woodford, Scott, Bourbon, Clark, Jessamine, Fayette - are Urban
Everyone is busy counting the days until school is out & Food Service is busy gearing up for the next program!!
