What we're learning this week...
Phonics: ut, ug, un word families (short u)
Book: Bear Snores On by Karma Wilson
Reading Strategies: Making a prediction, retelling the story, nonfiction text - All About Bears
Math: Number partners, teen numbers, solid shapes
Writing: Writing a story (narrative), using what we know to write words and sentences
Social Studies: Holidays around the world
Science: Animals needs: safety and shelter
Religion: Advent
Social and Emotional Learning: Explaining feelings: Students discuss how to think back to what happened first or look for situational cues in order to understand reasons for someone’s feelings. Students brainstorm reasons that people can have different feelings.
Virtue: Empathy
Social Skills: Following directions and working with others
Epiphany Mass If your child has a reading for our Epiphany Mass that we will be hosting on Friday, January 7th, please make sure to practice! | Field Trips I am hoping to book a few field trips for after Christmas Break. If you'd like to chaperone, please refer to the SMA Newsletter for parent info on how to participate. | Running Club Running Club for TK-5th graders is every Tuesday morning @ 7:30am with Mrs. Flores (8th Grade Teacher) on the Sports Court. Come have some fun learning how to run/walk some laps. Please fill out permission slip and bring to your first day at Running Club. |
