The Year In Review 2015-2016
The Parrott Library is a dynamic place where our students learn, read, and enjoy a space to relax. Thank you for taking time to review our year!
Lessons with Form C
My two favorite lessons with Form C this year offered students a hands-on experience with the history of Children's Literature.
- Here, they are displaying their work as artist immigrant creating illustrations for our Little Golden Book lesson.
- Building upon their Homeroom reading of Charlotte's Web, we read in library The Trumpet of the Swan and studied how the life of E.B. White influenced his writing. Each student wrote a critical essay. Examples are here.
Morning chess
Every morning, our Form A student stimulate their brains before class by challenging one another in games of chess. It is hard for them to stop at 7:55! Who can blame them?
Author lunch
Author Sneed Collard III visited with Form B for a Writer's Workshop to share a writing assignment and revisions. Each student received a handout of his tips, anong them is "Show, don't tell." Out2Lunch Book Club shared a delightful rowdiness with him during lunch in the library!
