Osprey Weekly
November 6, 2020
Dear LES Families,
This week started the 2nd quarter of school. It was a great week welcoming back our PK, Kindergarten and 1st grade students. Students and teachers are doing an excellent job connecting.
On Monday, November 16th, we will welcome back Grades 2-5. Please refer to the resources below for more information about student return. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
We have winter coats for children available for donation, if anyone is in need. Please reach out to our School Counselor, Mrs. Bronzell if you are in need of a coat.
There is no school on Wednesday, November 11th in honor of Veterans Day. We thank all our families who are serving and have served for your service!
On Friday, November 13th, join the LES PTA for an Ice Cream Fundraising Social with Coldstone from 4 p.m.-dark.
All Veterans who stop by will be entered into a drawing to win a Mission BBQ gift basket and special treat. Flags and coloring books will be provided for all families that stop by.
If your child is remaining virtual and you did not get a chance to pick up your device today, please call the school and arrange a time for pick up. This is only if contact was made with you during the week of October 26th.
Thank you for your continued support!:)
R,

LES Online Help Desk
We ask that you be patient if there if someone receiving help ahead of you. Thank you for your support.
We hope that students and families find this support helpful.:)
Bus Rider Update
We are working with SMCPS transportation to ensure students are safely picked up and dropped off at the correct location. We have found that in most cases where there is a transportation issue it is because there has been a change in childcare or the pick-up location from last year.
Thank you for your support.

Standards Based Report Card
First Quarter Report Cards will be available to view on HAC on November 12th. Those students who attend in-person learning can also receive a hard copy of the report card on November 12th, 16th, or 17th. Please let the teacher know if you would prefer a hard copy of the report card and we will get it to you.
Viewing Report Cards in HAC. When looking at the standards based report card on HAC, it will look a little different than the hard copy of the report card, but all the information is the same.
Student marks on the report card will be based on students accessing and completing the work assigned in Schoology asynchronously, participation during synchronous live meet sessions, and observation information collected by teachers during synchronous teaching/learning sessions. Attendance during these times are critically important.
PTA News!
Dear LES Families,
You have charted the first quarter of the school years distance learning path and how extraordinary that is. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced us all to do things differently and school life is not immune to the need for change.
As we currently navigate the 2020-2021 school year under the distance learning model and introduce the hybrid model, the PTA Executive Board remains focused on supporting our students, families, teachers and staff in every way that we can. We do this with our advocacy, community building, fundraising and partnering with Mrs. Quick-McQueen to determine critical funding needs for Leonardtown Elementary School.
Additionally, we have three important projects this school year; Outreach, After-School programs and converting our Science Lab to a STEM Lab.
Our most important work remains to advocate for every child. This year our role is critical to lifting up and supporting our students, teachers and staff. I strongly encourage you to join the PTA on our mission and become more involved in shaping how education will move forward under the school's new landscape of hybrid and distance learning model.
Given the COVID-19 restrictions, we are adjusting our approach in the 2020-21 school year. We have Launched MemberHub to help us build a stronger community and be successful this year. Join us here:

This school year we have seen incredible support with our Spirit Nights, Teacher Appreciation monthly events, Teacher Care Baskets, Outreach projects and Donation Drives.
On behalf of the PTA Executive Board, I thank you always for your support.
Together our Ospreys will fly.
