Kendallvue Community Updates
November 13 - 27, 2022
Happy Thanksgiving
On Thursday, the school board voted to close 16 schools in Jeffco. Peiffer Elementary is closing and that area will now be part of Kendallvue boundaries. I am sure there are many emotions our neighbors are experiencing. While our conversations about this moment have been happening for months, the finality of the school board vote feels like this is now a real thing.
I do want to take this time to say how proud I am to be a part of our Kendallvue community. You all have embraced this change with humility and empathy for our new Peiffer families. I believe the coming together of our communities will enhance our sense of community as a whole and enhance our children's experiences at school. Thank you for embracing this change as an opportunity and not a burden. I am grateful for all our Kendallvue families.
We are hosting an open house for our Peiffer families on Tuesday, November 15. It is an opportunity for Peiffer families to see our school. I am excited for families to meet our teachers and see what makes our school such a wonderful place.
On another note, some school news. Report cards come home on Thursday this week. We have finished the first trimester and we are officially one third of the way through the school year. It is the beginning of the cold and flu season. Here is a quick reminder of "when is sick, too sick" information from the district (click here). Attendance is important, but so is your child's health. Use your best judgment when deciding to send your child to school or not.
Finally, next week is Thanksgiving Break. Speaking for our teachers and staff, it will be a welcome break! I am grateful for a wonderful staff, great students, and a supportive community. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday week!
Cheers,
Bruce Lindsey

Front Office Updates
- "When is my child too sick to come to school?" We hear this a lot especially as we are entering into the flu season. I know the last few years of living through the pandemic have made some of us a little more cautious about sending your child to school. Please read through this information from the district website (click here). It addresses the question of when too sick is too sick to come to school. We want our kids to be at school and learning as much as they can so they can be successful in the next grade level and then beyond. It is important students are in school. Please read the information on the district website use your best judgment when sending your child to school.
Report Cards
- Students will come home with report cards on Thursday. The first trimester has come to an end.
- Starting in December students will have middle of the year testing in MAP. Information will be coming home in the next few newsletters and from your students' teachers.
Staffing
- Throughout the district, mental health positions have been difficult to fill. In order to fill some of these positions, the district contracts with outside organizations. This has been the case for our school. Our social worker position has been filled by Christine Mustain who works for one of those outside organizations Jeffco contracts with. We have had our social worker position posted since the beginning of the school year.
- I am telling you this, because recently, we were able to hire for this position. Katie Boehm will be our new social worker. She starts on Monday, November 14. We are excited for Katie to be an ongoing member of our team. It will take some time for her to meet the students on her caseload, but I am confident she will jump in and get to work building positive relationships with our students. She will work with our students in the Affective Needs Center Program and our students who require mental health minutes with IEPs.
- Thank you Christine Mustain for working with our staff and students these past few months.
