Virtual Field Trips
Ideas for Google Hangouts in the classroom
One of the best aspects of Google Hangouts is that all you need is a gmail account (aka your school email) to get started. (Anyone you want to talk to also needs to have a Google account to use Google Hangouts). For more information, watch this simple overview of starting a Hangout.
Mystery Hangout
Connect with classrooms across the county & brush up on your guessing skills. Two classrooms video-chat with each other but do not reveal their individual locations. Before meeting online, both classes research facts about their own state and create clues about their location. Then, each class takes turns asking “yes” or “no”-type questions in a race to solve the mystery. Connect with other educators here. Do you know someone who lives in another state or country or is traveling somewhere? Schedule a mystery hangout between them and your students.
Virutal Field Trips
Virtual Field Trip - Take your students beyond the classroom walls and into some of the world's most iconic locations for rich and immersive learning experiences — no permission slips, buses, or chaperones required.

Ask an Expert
Inviting a speaker into the classroom has never been easier … or less expensive. Video-calling enables anyone from around the world to “visit” a school. You can even use your own family members as experts!
