The Winter Blues are Setting In!

It is that time of year; it's cold outside the kiddos of course want to be cuddled up at home with their game systems, I-pads, books, etc. But there is still alot of work to do in the next 15 school days!

We are doing our best to motivate our lovely pupils to put forth their best work and effort as well as to come to school to show their bright and smiling faces, and we greatly appreciate our parents assistance in helping us with this endeavor! Only 15 more days until winter break! We can make it!

Class Information

Math-Today we are finishing transformations on the coordinate plane. Students will use multiple transformations to move figures on the coordinate plane. Students will practice all four transformation (translations, reflections, rotations, and dilations) through practice problems!

Science-Today in science, we will be going over the rubric that will be used to evaluate each student's commercial for their geologic time period travel agency. Students will start filming using the iPads and will be creating "props" for their commercial!

Social Studies- Continuing with the Bill of Rights. What does each each amendment mean? How does it apply to us!

English Language Arts - Today we will be taking notes/reviewing the types of point of view. Students will be including a foldable in their interactive notebook in order to take notes about four of the types of author's purpose: informing, persuading, expressing, and entertaining. Students will use tasks on e-Campus in order to find synonyms for these four terms (since questions on assessments may use such synonyms rather than the words "inform", "entertain", etc. and so that students can expand their vocabulary usage when analyzing works. Additionally, students will identify terms that an author may use in their writing that will give the reader a clue as to what why the author is writing the passage.

Short Story Contest

There is a short story contest that many students are interested in. There is information in Mrs. Goodwin's room or here is the link:

This is a national competition, not a school-wide one.

EDP Session 2: The link below is that of the EDP form for Session 2. When completing the form, please make sure you prioritize the choices (1st, 2nd, 3rd choice). A few new notes about EDP Session 2: 1) Students cannot stay the day the day that they turn in their form because the form needs to be processed. They may stay the day after they turn in the form. 2) The following clubs are now closed (students cannot be added into these clubs anymore): Yoga, computer games, Fit club Thursday, Hip Hop Dance.
