About the Teacher...

Hello, my name is Todd Thevenot and I'm one of the ESL instructors here at Sycamore Elementary School. I have had the privilege of teaching English to students who speak other languages for over ten years. I love the human interaction that teaching has offered me, and the continual growth that it requires. As a teacher of English Learners, I've had the pleasure of helping and bonding with students and families from a great range of cultures and languages. I proudly hold a Master's degrees from University of Memphis in English (Applied Linguistics).

About ESL Class

We will be exploring a variety of exciting topics and themes while intensively developing reading, writing, and critical thinking abilities. Our classes use research-based literacy activities and strategies that feature dynamic student-based interaction. Through our involvement with authentic texts, as readers, writers, and thinkers, we will improve both our communicative and academic abilities in the English language, so that our students will be successful inside and outside of school.
