October 2016
Dear FSS Families,
Dear FSS families,
Happy Fall! We have a busy month with parent conferences, fundraisers and our Fall Festival at the end of the month. We hope you can participate in all our school events. Our amazing PTA will need parent volunteers to work game booths at our Fall Festival. Please let your student's teacher know if you are available to set up or run a booth from 4-6 pm on October 26th. We need donations of candy to hand out at the Fall Festival. PTA will put a donation box by the office to collect bags of candy this month. Halloween is on a Monday. We will not wear costumes, but children may wear a halloween shirt or socks.
As most of you know, Ms. Nina, our former Attendance Secretary accepted a job at MEE. We are sad to see her leave. We will be hiring a new bilingual Attendance Secretary very soon. Thanks in advance for being patient during this transition. We wish Nina the very best at MEE.
If you are able to volunteer in your child classroom, you are always welcome. Please arrange for a day and time with the teacher, then work with Mrs. Nydia, in the office, to get clearance to volunteer. We have a procedure for all volunteers on campus to ensure our children and staff are always safe.
Fondly,
Stephenie Martinez
Afectuosamente,
Stephenie Martínez

Arrival and Dismissal
School drop-off/pick-up Procedures
We have two locations: the front grass for walkers and the MEE car loop for riders.
- If you are a walker, use the front of the school and drop off and pick up in the grass area. Please do not drop off from your car on Fallbrook St. This is dangerous. Be sure you and your children use ALL crosswalks.
- If you pick up in a car, get in the MEE car loop line and please continue to pull up to the front of the line or until you get your child. Never double park and never leave your car unattended in the car line. You may park in the parking lot and walk to the MEE grass to pick up your child.
- All Kindergartners will be released to their parents in the front grass area.
- FSS shares the MEE car loop on Mission with the MEE. They will start and end school 30 minutes later then FSS.
- The bus loop is for busses only and a few parents with special passes for special reasons. No other cars are allowed in the bus loop.
- Children are not allowed on campus before 7:30AM. Supervision at the lunch tables begins at 7:30AM. If you need daycare before 7:30, you must arrange to have your child in ASES. This is extremely important.

Our students work hard in class and need good "brain food." Fruits, vegetables, cheese and yogurt are healthy and give the needed energy to stay focused. Please avoid sending Hot Cheetos, Talikes or sugary snacks. Save these for after-school and the weekend. We now offer a free healthy fruit or veggie during snack time Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Remind your student to get them.
