"Bee" in the Know

Martha B. Day Weekly Update 10/16/2020

Students Caught "Bee"ing Awesome at MBD

From now until Thanksgiving Break, when a student is caught "Bee"ing awesome, a postcard will be sent to the student's house. Students will be caught "Bee"ing awesome by Ms. Husser for one of the reasons:

- "Bee"ing an Active Listener

- "Bee"ing Kind to Others

- "Bee"ing a Role Model

- "Bee"ing Excited About Learning

Use a Checklist for Focus

  • For some children who really struggle with focusing, a basic visual checklist of tasks needed for a particular activity will be helpful.
  • For example, if the child is asked to watch a lesson, read a prompt, and then provide a written response to the prompt, the checklist would have keywords for each of these required activities: watch, read, write.
  • The child would check off each task with you as it is completed, and receive some positive praise or another reward when finished.
  • This can be done for younger children using pictures.

What Would the Hybrid Model Look Like?

ReOpening Phase Two

  • Students will receive in-person or live Google Meet instruction for ELA and Math.
  • SS/Sci and Specials will be asynchronous at home
  • The two in-person days are half days (lunch is not served for half days)
  • Minimal, if any, changes to classes would occur

AM students will be in person on Monday and Tuesday while PM students are home virtually participating in the lesson that is being streamed from the classroom through Google Meet.

Wednesday AM students will have remote instruction from 8-10:20 and PM from 11:40-2:00. (This will match what we currently are doing)

PM students will be in person on Thursday and Friday while AM students are home virtually participating in the lesson that is being streamed from the classroom through Google Meet.
