Plymouth South Middle School News
March 5, 2021
From the Principal
Happy Friday!
Today marks the midway point of term 3. If needed, please encourage your child to pass in any missing or incomplete assignments so that they are not too far behind in their studies.
The Plymouth Public Schools are continuing their preparation for the return of all students. This matter will be discussed further on the evening of March 15th at the next School Committee. At that meeting, there will be a greater discussion about the return of secondary students (middle and high school).
We are continuing to prepare for the return of students. This past week we have arranged the furniture in many of the specialist classrooms. This includes: Art, Music, Technology and Engineering and Research. We have prepared our cafeteria as well to safely hold more students. This evening, we will be returning more furniture to our 7th grade classrooms as well.
We will continue too slowly and thoughtfully put the school back together to ensure that we are following all updated safety guidelines and measures. This approach has been successful thus far and should ensure that when the students return, we will not only be ready for them, but it will be safe.
One regulation that the Department of Education has updated is in reference to Chorus and singing in school. The most recent update allows for students to sing indoors. Students must wear a mask and be at least 10 feet away from each other. I'm happy to report that we have a plan in place to hold our choral classes in the cafeteria and meet these guidelines.
Our Student Council is sponsoring thematic days throughout March. They have titled these days "March Madness". This past yesterday and today were "Green and Gold" days where staff and students were asked to dress up to show school spirit. Next Thursday and Friday are days to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Free free to remind your child to dress for the occasion next Thursday and Friday!
Sincerely,
Mr. Murphy
