From the Desk of Pastor Linda
Greetings all!
This Saturday evening there will be a full moon in the sky. It will, if the sky is clear, appear large and very orange. This orange color is caused from the distance it is away from the earth at this time of year.By the time the light from the moon's reflection reaches us the "blue" hues have disappeared and we see orange! I personally always marvel at the moon whether it is waxing or waning and especially when it is a full moon! If the weather permits, look for this orange color full moon beginning as early as sunset through to sunrise! And why do I suggest you do this? Notice the moon and take pause giving thanks to God's great creation that God has given us! Perhaps reflect on God's love for God's creation and God's love for you! The sky's are so vast covered with brilliant stars and a moon that can guide our way when things are dark. In this amazing expanse God has placed us and loves us dearly. Perhaps we can find this same deep love for friends, neighbors and those we may just meet.
We continue with the Sermon on the Mount looking at Matthew 5:38-48. Jesus calls us to some hard tasks: "Give to everyone who begs from you, and do not refuse anyone who wants to borrow from you" as well as "love our enemies and pray for those who persecute you". We will walk through all of these verses together but remember the God who tossed those stars in sky and a moon to be amazed by! Our God is generous, creative and loving! I bet we can strive to imitate God and live like Jesus asks of us!
Peace,
Linda

Flu Shots: October 13th
The Fall season will soon be upon us. With the season comes the magnificent Fall colors, kids going back to school, trips to the cider mill, AND unfortunately the influenza virus.
Influenza viruses infect the nose, throat, and lungs causing a contagious sometimes deadly respiratory illness. An annual flu shot is the best defense against this nasty bug!
The flu season can begin as early as October and last until May. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends every person 6 months of age and older get vaccinated against the flu virus annually.
You will have convenient access to the flu vaccine at our annual Flu Shot Clinic October 13 from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm. The cost of the shot is covered by most insurance. Please bring your insurance card and identification with you.
Sign up in the Lakeview area following worship. Feel free to take a vaccine information sheet. The consent form which is completed prior to receiving the shot.

Introduction to Bible Basics
Sundays 9:00-10:00 a.m.
October 20th in Heritage Hall
Led by Sally Montera
Do you remember a Sunday School teacher expecting you to memorize all the books of the Bible in order? Did you ever go to look up a Bible passage and weren’t quite sure where to look? Did you ever wonder what those little annotations meant or how the Bible was organized? Or are you like me and ever wondered what the background of the story you are reading is – where did this take place, why is the location significant, who are those people referenced, what does that word mean? This study will take up the basics of the Bible and how to approach its study. We will talk about Bible organization, footnotes, concordances, study Bibles, and maps - all designed to give you a solid foundation for future Bible studies.
