It's time for the NPE Online Book Fair!
Black History Month Celebrated at NPE
From Mr. Candillo
Hello LIONS,
As we continue on our 2020-2021 journey together, I am excited and encouraged by all of the great things happening at our school. Despite many obstacles and challenges we have faced this year, our LIONS have come together to demonstrate resilience, perseverance, and what it means to do your personal best!
Last week, our SEL lessons focused on anti-bullying topics and ways to stand up for yourself and others. Be sure to ask your child about some of the great discussions and songs we covered in class. As we move into next week, we will shift our focus to revisit active listening. Be sure to ask your child, on Monday, what an active listener looks like!
Through your generous donations to the PTA we were able to treat the staff to some delicious snacks this week. As well, we gave the PTA Board an update regarding purchases that have taken place which include: Software for additional math practice in 4th and 5th grades and storage (i.e. seat sacks and storage bins) for Kindergarten through 5th grade and related arts. We are currently planning some upgrades and additions to our recess collection (i.e. soccer nets, a volleyball net, volleyballs, tetherball, etc.). We will also be adding outdoor seating spaces in the very near future. Teachers have also received their annual allocation to purchase materials and supplies for their classrooms. Again, we couldn't do this without the generous support of our NPE LION families!
I look forward to the weeks ahead and all of the opportunities we have to serve our amazing children! We had a great time celebrating Black History Month in February with daily trivia challenges. This month (March) we will celebrate Music in our Schools Month. Next week also kicks off our second online book fair!
Until next time, GO LIONS!
Sincerely,
Robert Candillo
