CURRICULUM PREVIEW
Mark your calendars so you don't miss Curriculum Preview on Tuesday, August 28th! This is a time for parents to come and learn all about what your children will be learning this year as well as all the nuts and bolts of how the classroom and homework will run. This is for PARENTS ONLY. We will not have supervision for children that evening.
Here is the schedule for the evening:
5:15-5:55 - 4th Grade ALA and Accelerated Math (for parents of students already in those classes only)
6:00-6:40 - 3rd Grade ALA and Accelerated Math (for parents of students already in those classes only)
- First session for all homerooms K through 4th Grades
6:50-7:30 - Second session for all homerooms K through 4th Grades
- Mrs. Carroll will be presenting, during the second session only, an Art Curriculum Preview to highlight some changes that will be implemented in Art class this year (more information to come in Mrs. Carroll's newsletter soon).

PBIS SPIRIT DAY CHANGE
Our first PBIS Spirit Day will be Friday, September 14th! This is a change from the cards you received this week. September 7th is our Boosterthon Fun Run and students will be receiving Boosterthon T-shirts to wear that day instead!

PTO NEWS & NOTES
MEMBERSHIP & INVOLVEMENT
The PTO has been hard at work preparing a fun year for all our students. As you already know, it takes a village to raise our children. Becoming involved with the PTO is a great way to stay connected with your teachers, your friends, and your children. Whether you donate your time and energy, your talents, or you donate financially, all contributions are noticed and appreciated. In case you missed your hard copy forms or last weeks S’more, you can access the Membership Form and the Volunteer Sign Up by clinking the links. These forms are also available on our website.

Attention Chess loving students!
Chess Club is forming this school year in the fall for 1st-4th graders. No experience necessary. It's will be a 13 week program taught by Coach Daniel Zimmer (uscf id 15332953) and held once a week starting Wednesday, September 12th from 8-9 am. The program will cover all the basics including moves, notation of moves, and also some strategies to be able to win games. Participation fee is $130 and will include a chess board and t-shirt for each student. Interested parents please email renee.e.marshall@gmail.com. Registration is first come first serve with a maximum of 14 students.
BOOSTERTHON IS BACK! Put on your lab coats and don't forget your protective eyewear! Boosterthon is returning to Montgomery Elementary! This successful fundraiser not only teaches our children valuable character lessons, it also allows the PTO to fund over 40 committees that create unique and worthwhile experiences for your children. This year, the students will be take part in a STEAM fueled journey into the Mind Spark Mystery Lab, where they will learn five 21st-century character traits that will help strengthen themselves and our world . Our adventure concludes with a Fun Run on Friday, September 7, where parents are encouraged to cheer on the students as they complete their laps outside this year (weather permitting)! The Montgomery Elementary PTO is looking for volunteers to help make the 2018-2019 school year a success!
There are many opportunities for members of the Montgomery Elementary family to volunteer as volunteers are very much needed to support various programs. We have several programs and events such as Beautification, Boosterthon, Carnival, Media Center, Yearbook, Aviation Station, Bingo Night, 4th Grade Graduation, PEP (The Running/Walking Program), Staff Appreciation, and so many more!

Mark your calendars for the eighth annual Sycamore Junior High Flight Fest 5k/10k Race & Festival which will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018! New this year-Those that register for the race will receive a custom made Flight Fest 2018 finishers medal in addition to Flight Fest t-shirt and swag bag.
