Mitchell Middle School
May 2017
2017-2018 Student Registration Window is Now Open!!
The Mitchell School District will be switching to an online registration process for the intake of student data for the upcoming 2017-2018 school year. This system will replace some of the required paperwork each year, but each individual school will still mail out additional information as the start of the school year approaches.
The online registration system will require each household to have a parent portal account through our Infinite Campus system. Many of you already utilize this tool to check attendance, grades, and behavior on your students. If you know your username and password, no further action is needed. If you have forgotten your username or password, please utilize the reset tools located on the parent portal site.
If you need to create a parent portal account, please fill out the Parent Portal form and return it to the school. This will allow us to create your parent portal account so you are able to log in and register your student/s for the upcoming school year.
Directions on how to register your student for the 2017-2018 school year can be found at the link below.

6th Grade Citizenship Winners for February
Every month we select 2 students from each of the 6th grade homeroom classes that have displayed good citizenship. These are students who are kind to others both in the classroom and in other areas of our building. These students participated in a variety of challenges to earn the privilege of bringing Herman to their class for the month. Congratulations to Mrs. Chada’s class!
Exchange Club Student of Excellence
The Students of Excellence awards are given to 12 Mitchell Middle School 8th graders each year and are selected based on their character, community involvement, and teacher recommendation.

The More You Know
While technology brings us the best and the worst, we are starting to see a new avenue for cyber bullying. Many of our students at the middle school have started a new form of truth or dare. Due to the temporary nature of the Snapchat app, students have a false sense of privacy when they share information using Snapchat. Students often times share very mean things about their friends or private information about themselves. This information is then shared by a third party. The nature of the internet allows any image to become available very quickly and without limitations of who is able to view the image or change it. Please talk with your students about their part in these challenges and how they could respond to a peer asking for information that is not something that they would like to be associated with.
