Night of Learning Reinvented
We are nearing the time to welcome our incoming STEAM students (grades 6-8th) to the 2019-2020 school year! On April 15th from 5:30-7:00, we will host our course selection and curriculum through "Night of Learning Reinvented." Like last year, it is very important for our families to experience all that STEAM MS has to offer. We want to show our incoming STEAMers what we do at STEAM and how that looks. For those here last year, it will run the same-- for new teachers, please ask if you have questions!
- For this experience, all departments and grade levels will be assigned to an area of the building; a map with locations is soon to come!
- Each grade and subject area (ie. 6th Math, 6th Pre-AP Math, etc..) will need to showcase their content (this could be a unit you have already completed, a DIY from the framework, etc..) We want parents/students to see facilitation in action (this means that they are actively working on or through something-- not just explaining a finished product) and have a glimpse into what we do at STEAM. This is also a great time for visitors to ask about you and the students about your content area (Pre-AP vs On-Level).
- If you teach multiple grade levels/sections, please work with your team on where you may best support them that night. Ideally, someone can represent 6, 7, and 8th-grade content areas as well Pre-AP and On-Level). Grade levels can work together, you do not have to do this independently-- this can be a team effort!
- Again, the experience that you showcase on this night could be a past product, a lesson you and a group of students want to demonstrate, etc..
- You will need to ask students to attend this event to represent your class. It is up to you as to how many students you have; however, consider the volume of people that will be attending (it may be best to keep the numbers between 3-7 students).
- This sheet will provide you with locations and directions. Please use this indicate what you will be showcasing, the students you will have help, and if these students and parents have been notified.
By April 8th, you should have a confirmed list of students who will be attending on behalf of your class as well as a solid plan for what activity/lesson/unit/etc. you will be showcasing.
Please come see me if you have questions about how this event should look for your class specifically, or if you need clarification!
EDITS to 8th Grade STEAM Remix Schedules for Tues/Thur. (Reading Focus)
Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Strother will be needing an adjusted roster for Tuesday and Thursday. Edited Rosters will be printed for 8th grade to know who is in your room for the next few weeks.
Edits to 8th grade STEAM Remix Schedules for Fri (Social Studies Focus)
A copy of the students that need to report for Social Studies pull-out on Fridays will be sent by paper, as well. Thank you.

STEAM Classroom Ambassadors
Please see below for STEAM Class Ambassadors expectations, and make sure each of your class ambassadors are prepped to speak with guests.
This aligns with our campus vision of student autonomy and students owning their learning.
We want to recognize and show appreciation to each other just like we are attempting to do for students!
If you want Candice or Chris to deliver fistbump cards, please let either of us know. We are willing to do that for you!
