Homeschool Art

A chance for homeschool students to participate in large-group learning activities at the library. Homeschooled students only; no signup required.

This program has a different theme each week, but all of the themes are centered around giving back to our community and making a difference in people’s lives. The full schedule is available in the brochure. No sign up is required—you can join this program at any time!
Sing-a-Long Christmas Carols with Dr. Braz
2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 3
Join us for lovely holiday piano music and some sing-a-long carols from pianist Dr. Braz. The Friends of the Library will be serving refreshments.

Toddler Time (ages 2-4)

Toddler Time is designed for parents and young children, with a focus on stories, song, and movement. After story time and songs, we normally have an easy craft for the toddlers to work on (with parent help). No sign up is required—you can join this program at any time!
Family Photo Ornament (ages 10 and up)
4:00 PM Thursday, December 8
Families are encouraged to join us as we make a beautiful holiday ornament you’ll remember forever! Each person should bring a photo that can be cut up or photo copied to create your ornament.
CHESS CLUB (all ages)
3:00 p.m. Friday, December 9
This is an open club for kids of any age who are interested in learning and practicing the games of chess. No sign up is required—join anytime!
Breakfast with Santa *pre-registration required
10:00 AM Saturday, December 10
Join us for a tasty breakfast, fun crafts, and some special time with the big man in red! Pre-registration is required for this event—sign up at the Children’s Department Desk. Space is limited, so sign up early!
Maker’s Monday (ages 10-16)
5:30 p.m. Monday, December 12
This hands-on program has a different theme each session, but always in a STEAM area (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math). No sign up is required. Check the flyers around the library to see what topics and activities are being offered this month!
Teen Cooking (ages 12-16)
5:30 PM Tuesday December 13
This program teaches teens some basic kitchen, cooking and baking skills. Each class has a theme, and students do it all—peeling, chopping, boiling, sautéing, baking, and even cleaning! No sign up is required, but be on time. Check the flyers around the library to see what we’re making this month!
ANIME CLUB (ages 12 – 18)
5:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 14 & 28
For teens who are interested in watching and discussing different anime series. We watch some episodes and have special international treats at each meeting. This program is drop-in, and students can join at any time.
Chad Crews: Haunted Christmas

In this special performance, magician Chad Cruz will weave some “scary ghost stories and tales of the glories, of Christmases long, long ago…” Come hear & witness the strange and unusual happenings from popular ghostly holiday tales, such as Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. Refreshments served.
CHESS CLUB

This is an open club for kids of any age who are interested in learning and practicing the games of chess. No sign up is required—join anytime!
READING TO ROVER (new and developing readers)
5:00 P.M. Monday, December 19
New and improving readers can choose any library book at their reading level, and read it aloud to one of the friendly pups from the Statesboro Therapy Dog group. No sign up required.
CrAzy 8 MATH CLUB (grades K – 2)
4:30 PM Tuesday December 20
Our Crazy 8 Math Clubs have a different theme each month, with exciting, hands-on activities that are designed to help build math skills. There are 2 clubs for different grade levels, and they meet on different days. Sign-up is required for this Club—just ask at the Children’s Department Desk.
KID’S ART NIGHT (ages 8-12)
5:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 21
This is a chance for elementary and middle schools students to spend a little extra time being creative! Each session has 1-2 art or craft projects designed for this age group. No sign up is required; be on time to so you don’t miss instructions!
CrAzy 8 MATH CLUB (grades 3 – 5)
