Capturing Kids' Hearts
The Launch: BIG bang for a little buck!
It can be easy to lose track of time... then the bell rings and it’s a rush to the door. Having a daily launch allows me to speak positive thoughts into my students. It's the last thing they hear me say. I want it to be memorable!
Reflective Question:
How frequently are you launching your students?
Tips
- Be intentional. Set a timer or appoint a detailed-minded student to give you a two-minute warning before class or the day ends to leave time for the launch. Add the launch to your lesson plan.
- Quickly review what was covered during the class period and what will be happening tomorrow.
- Ask students for a commitment to action. The commitment can be to their homework or preparation for the next class, or even a challenge to step up for someone today in their school!
- End with something meaningful or inspirational: "Today is a great day to have a great day, the choice is yours."
- Have students put away their materials and be prepared to launch.
- Occasionally have different students launch the class with a quote or an encouragement.
- Let students submit their favorite quotes.
- Utilize the quotes and resources in LeadWorthy Moments to find great launch ideas.
Don't underestimate the power a launch can have on your classroom culture. Thank you for investing in your students and for modeling Capturing Kids Hearts!
