We love Ms. Hallback
Education Galaxy
Welcome back to school! I have loved seeing all the smiling faces back at ROE each day. Each teacher has been working on classroom procedures so that the classrooms will run smoothly as we progress through the year. Everyone is doing a great job learning the grade level procedures. In the next few weeks Guided Reading books will be coming home that will be at the reading level of your child. When your student brings a book home, please read it with them, talk about it and make sure that it gets returned the next day. Some good question stems are: What was the book about, Where/When did the story take place, Who was in the story, and Why might the author have written the story?
Please talk to your child about what they did each day. Asking specific questions will help keep students from answering with a yes or no. What did you learning in Math today? What was your favorite story or character you read about today? Tell me one good thing about your day and one not so good thing?
The students have access to many online resources. The one featured this month is Education Galaxy www.educationgalaxy.com. Logins are their lunch number and redoakisd (ex 123456redoakisd). Password is lunch number (ex 123456).
We look forward to partnering with you this school year. We love our ROE kids and can’t wait to see everything they will accomplish this year!

Arrival Procedures
- Students will then go to their assigned area in the morning starting Monday, August 26th. We ask that you allow your child to walk themselves to their morning area to help promote independence.
- Students arriving by car should be dropped off in the back of the building. Staff will be available to assist students as they exit cars and enter the building. Please do not stop in front of the building to drop off students. You must drop off at the back of the building. Students may not walk in the front doors by themselves. Parents wishing to walk students into the building will need to park in the front and will be allowed to walk the students into the foyer, but students will walk to the cafeteria and their classrooms by themselves. If your child needs extra assistance, we will have several staff members available. The tardy bell will ring at 7:45. Students arriving after 7:45 will need to be escorted into the building and signed in as tardy. Parents will need to park in the front of the building.
We thank you for helping foster independence in your child!
Dismissal Procedure Reminders
Dismissal is an extremely important part of our day. We want to ensure the safest and most efficient process to end each day at ROE. Your child's teacher will ask you to share your child's normal dismissal plan during Meet the Teacher. We know that sometimes plans may change. The best way to make transportation changes is to communicate with your child's teacher in writing. However, if an emergency arises the office can make contact with the ROE front office during the day to inform of last minute changes. In case of an emergency contact the ROE Office at 972-617-3523 before 2:00 pm.
Neighborhood Walkers
Red Oak Elementary staffers will walk these students to one of three designated neighborhood drop-offs. Students who walk will be accompanied to the drop-off spot nearest to their home. This option is only for students living in the surrounding neighborhoods. All other students should be a bus rider, daycare rider or car rider.
Neighborhood A – Valley Ridge and Autumn Trail
Neighborhood B - Valley Ridge and Shadow Bend
Neighborhood C – Red Oak Road and Foxwood Lane
Parent Pick Up
As always, each car will need to a car tag placed on the dashboard. Please be sure to stay in your car while in this line. You may enter the car line from either Red Oak Road or Valley Ridge. Your child's homeroom teacher will distribute car tags during Meet the Teacher Night. If you do not have a car tag, please visit the front office. The parent pick up line will be a slower process during the month of August. We will increase our efficiency as we move into September. Please use the car line unless it is an emergency.
Bus / Daycare / After the Bell
Students who ride a Red Oak ISD bus or daycare transportation will be dismissed at the front of the building. After the Bell will meet in the gym during dismissal time. Students must be enrolled in After the Bell prior to staying.
Daily Bus Route Updates
Red Oak ISD will provide daily updates on delays such as weather, construction or other conditions affecting buses and their routes. Please access the Daily Route Updates chart for real time information.
Thank you for your patience and support as we continue to transport your students to and from school safely.
During the first two weeks of school, all campuses may experience heavy parent traffic causing some buses to run delayed.

Notes from the Nurse
If your child needs medication during the school day, please read over our district's medication policy here: https://goo.gl/5sAnVT
Parents will need to have an action plan and a medication administration form completed by their student's doctor before medications may be left at school. Please email Nurse Mai at maimouna.niang@redoakisd.org if you need this paperwork sent to you.
