  • All assignments/activities must be completed and turned into the teacher the day students return to in-person learning.

  • The same assignments/activities sent home in hard copy form will be available on Canvas/SeeSaw.

  • Teachers will provide an office ZOOM hour to support students in completing assignments/activities. Click here for the schedule, link, PW, and hour.

  • Teachers will monitor their email throughout the day so that students may seek support in completing assignments/activities.

Teacher of the Month - Heather Cowham

Walk into the library at Bear Branch Elementary, and you’ll hear Mrs. Cowham ask her students this question, “It’s the BEST day of the week, do you know why?” Then in cheerful little voices, you will hear them yell in chorus, “IT'S LIBRARY DAY!”

That’s right. Our BBE Bears love coming to visit Mrs. Cowham at the library because she makes magic happen every day. Whether she is assisting students in finding the perfect book, showing them a new robot in Makerspace, hosting a book fair, educating students about digital citizenship and safety, or reading the perfect story- she is committed to instilling a love of reading and learning by fostering a welcoming creative environment. She strives to build relationships with each person that enters the library and understands the importance of being a positive role model for our students.

She wanted to become a librarian for many reasons, but she would have the opportunity to impact the lives of so many. But she says that each student and teacher's impact on her heart is beyond anything she could have ever imagined.

Mrs. Cowham was born and raised in Indiana and moved to Texas at the age of 22, where she worked as a 2nd and 3rd-grade self-contained math teacher. She learned so much in those first years of teaching in Aldine ISD that helped make her the educator she is today. She met and married her husband Kevin in 2006 and transferred to Conroe ISD to be closer to her new home. In Conroe, she taught 4th-grade math for 8 years and had a daughter, Reagan. Her family moved to Magnolia in 2008, and with that came an opportunity to relocate schools again. In 2014, she began working at Bear Branch Elementary as a 4th ELA teacher.

After 18 years of teaching 2nd-4th grade students, she made the brave decision to attain her master’s degree in library science, all while being a full-time teacher, mom, and wife. It was one of her best decisions she ever made!

She has worn many hats at Bear Branch in addition to being the BEST librarian ever! She is currently our campus tech liaison, facilitates Makerspace daily with k-4th grade students, and sponsors our Battle of the Books club. She is serving as team leader for the Specials team. She has also served in many other aspects, including supervising student teachers, sponsoring the National Elementary Honor Society, serving on Texas Day, Sunshine, Site Base, Textbook Adoption, and GT Committees. Mrs. Cowham is a huge supporter of our PTO and works very closely with them to help make the school a better place for our students and staff.

Mrs. Cowham had the pleasure of representing Bear Branch Elementary as their Teacher of the Year in 2016 and was honored with District and Region 6 Teacher of the Year. “I am honored to represent Bear Branch again as the February 2021 Teacher of the Month, and I accept on behalf of all of the hard-working MISD librarians, tech liaisons, technology instructional specialists, and the many, many others that play an important role in educating our students daily but may not be a classroom teacher. It truly takes a village to make the magic happen.”

In her 7th year teaching at Bear Branch and her 21st year in education, she hopes to continue her legacy at Bear Branch as our librarian. “It is home for me. I absolutely love my job, the staff, students, and parents. There is nowhere I would rather be than in MISD!”

Staff of the Month - Caitlin Moye

I have had the amazing opportunity to work with Magnolia ISD for approximately three years, two of which have been spent with the ABLE Program. I have twin boys who are beyond excited to join the BBE family soon! Currently, I am working on finishing my degree to begin my teaching certification. Because of the atmosphere and inspiration that the ABLE Program provides, my goal is to become a special education teacher within this district that has become my home. It is a blessing to work with students to watch them grow and help them reach their full potential.
