Retirement Reflections
With Superintendent Barrett
As one of the longest standing superintendents in GJPS history, Steve Barrett is not known for taking things slow. During his tenure, he saw the district through exciting growth as well as unprecedented challenges – and he did so with a keen eye on collaboration and always seeking to do right by the students.

The Lion's Share
With Superintendent Barrett
Our school district’s governance structure relies heavily on our committee meetings, where we deliberate on important topics with our board of education, staff, and the GJPS community. We have monthly committee meetings for Finance/Facilities, Student-Learning and Achievement, and a quarterly Policy Meeting.
We use these meetings as a vehicle for communication and each meeting is video recorded and placed on our district website. These meetings are also a chance for our community members to share their voices and deliberate on important teaching and learning initiatives.
By far, my favorite committee meeting is Student Learning and Achievement. We love talking about student learning and how great programming and teaching can transform students’ lives. Recently, teacher, Marci Aiello, brought a few students from the Global Scholars Program she leads at Gahanna Lincoln High School to talk with us about the capstone projects they completed to earn their Global Scholars Diploma.
