Wolf Den News
Cub Scout Pack 972, Den 1
Welcome to the Wolf Den!
Hi! Welcome to second grade Cub Scouts! My name is Erika Kennedy. I will be Den Leader for the Wolf Den 1. This year is my son, Patrick's, and my second year in Cub Scouts.
Although I'm relatively new to Cub Scouts, I grew up in Girl Scouts. I started Girl Scouts when I was a first grader, and later became an adult volunteer at Girl Scout day camp and overnight camp. In addition to my Scouting background, I have 15 years experience working in schools with children ages K-8, 10 years as an Elementary School Counselor and 6 years in the Wentzville School District. I was also 4th and 5th grade Camp Director in WSD for 4 years.
I have always loved camping, hiking, the outdoors, learning new things, and kids...so I know I'm going to have another fantastic year in scouts, teaching our boys how to be great citizens, while also playing games, getting active outside, doing projects, being silly, and having fun!
I'm excited to get to know you and your family! Please feel free to email, call, or text if you have any questions.
Wolf Den Meetings
We will be meeting one Sunday a month for Den Meetings. Have your Scout bring his handbook and wear his uniform to Den Meetings.
Sunday, September 25th at 2:00 pm will be our first Den meeting at Klondike park, 4600 Highway 94 S., Augusta, MO 63332. We will meet at the "Council Ring."

We will be working on the "Call of the Wild" and "Howling at the Moon" achievements in our handbook. Please have your scout dress in his uniform, and bring camp chairs! We'll be doing activities around the camp fire, including making s'mores. Please let me know if you are able to bring graham crackers, marshmallows, or Hershey's chocolate to share with the Den.
Sunday, October 23rd will be our next Den meeting. We'll be participating in a Fall Orienteering Meet at Broemmelsiek Park, 1795 Highway DD, Defiance, MO 63341. The website says the event is "all day," so I'll get back to you with a time once I get some more information from the Parks Department. We'll be working on "Finding Your Way" achievement. This event will be $5 per person.

Our November meeting date is still TBA, but I would like to schedule it at the Endangered Wolf Center. Please let me know if there is a Saturday or Sunday that will NOT work for your family for this trip in November. We will work on the "Paws on the Path" achievement. This program will be $8 per person.

Please let me know if any of the fees will be difficult for your family, we never want that to stand in the way of a scout participating!
Wearing the Uniform
The Pack has already provided each scout's handbook, neckerchief, slide, and the Pack "972" patch. Please let me know if you have not yet received any of these!
Cub Scout uniforms serve a dual purpose, demonstrating membership in the group (everyone is dressed alike) and individual achievement (boys wear the badges they've earned). Wearing the uniform to meetings and activities also encourages a neat appearance, a sense of belonging, and good behavior.
If you'd like to purchase a den patch, we are "Den 1."
I'm also told you can buy uniforms at Thro's on Main Street in St. Charles. Click here for their website.

Popcorn orders are due Oct. 20th at the Pack Meeting. Our goal is for every scout to sell $175 in popcorn this year! Let me know if your son is interested in selling around a neighborhood, or outside a local store. Patrick would love to go out and sell more!
