Festive Spirit

School is starting to feel very festive, and as part of our celebrations the Friends held our annual Christmas Fair yesterday. This was a very enjoyable, well attended afternoon, complete with "special guest" who took lots of requests! On behalf of school we would just like to thank all our mums, dads and carers for all the donations towards the Fair, for giving up time to help, and to everyone who came along to support us yesterday. In particular, we would like to say a HUGE thank you to all the members of Friends who have worked tirelessly over the last few weeks arranging all the hyacinths for the Ripon Cathedral Fair, as well as organising our own Christmas Fair (not to mention the disco in between!). The contribution Friends make to our school life, helping us to be able to purchase all the added "extras", is hugely appreciated and we are very grateful for their continued support.

Christmas Lunch

We will be holding our school Christmas lunch on Wednesday 16th December. All children are invited to take part in this meal and a letter has been sent home today with your child detailing the arrangements. If you child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 we will assume your child would like a Christmas Lunch and so no further action is required. However, if your child is in Year 3 - 6 and normally has a packed lunch but would like the Christmas meal, you are required to return the reply slip attached to the letter along with the payment of £2.10. Any queries please speak to the school office.

On Wednesday the Year 1 children visited Holy Trinity Church where our Chaplain Rick Otto explained to them all about baptism. After looking around the church, the children then had the opportunity to take part in a baptism service.

Parent Consultation Meetings

This week across school, we have been conducting the new style parent consultation meetings; we just have Reception parent meetings remaining which are scheduled for next week. We hope you have found the extended appointment time, and the new meeting style informative. Our aim was to allow teachers to go into detail with parents / carers about their child's progress and map out how school and home can work together in a meaningful partnership, taking responsibility for progress together. We hope it has allowed parents to have a deeper understanding of how we measure progress and to set targets which can be reviewed at the next meeting. We would welcome any feedback on whether you feel our aims have been met and your thoughts on the process as a whole.

Year 4 Worship

On Thursday, parents / carers were invited to our Year 4 Welcome Worship. The worship was a mixture of acting, learning and practical demonstrations of the importance of the message which is "Advent". As always, the children responded to the occasion superbly and Mr Richardson was very proud of his class.

Friends of Ripon Cathedral School update

Christmas Fair

A Huge festive THANK YOU from all the Friends for all the help and support given to make our Christmas Fair so successful. Without all your donations, raffle prizes, time given and money spent at the Fair it would not have been possible. The class hampers looked amazing and Mr Dudman has the hard job of picking a class winner. The result will be announced next week in assembly.

The Fair is the last major event of this year and so we hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a peaceful and Happy New Year. We look forward to seeing everyone in the New Year at our first meeting (date to follow) when we will start to plan for all the exciting Spring term events.
