”Get out of your way and let your spirit SOAR!” -Lincoln 19-20 SOAR to Infinity and beyond! August Mission: #loveoflearning
19-20 School Year Is Coming Up Fast!
Hello Lincoln Families! We are looking forward to the start of the 19-20 school year. Our building has been under construction all summer. All heating and cooling univents have been replaced. This was a huge job throughout our building all summer. We look forward to comfortable classrooms, thanks to new heating and cooling units. Please make sure you have fully registered on line, or families will not receive bus or teacher assignments. Bus assignments can now be viewed through the Parent Portal on Infinite Campus. Click on the "Transportation" tab to view information. It is also visible on the Infinite Campus mobile app. If you see an issue with your bus assignments, please use this Google Form provided by CCSD15 Transportation in order to receive assistance. Teacher assignments can be viewed on the Parent Portal on Tuesday, August 6. Also, please make sure you carefully read the PTA section below to hear about all the current information shared with us by our award-winning Lincoln PTA.
We welcome new staff members to Lincoln. Kayla Barnvos will join the kindergarten team. Kayla comes to us from Sanborn School with a degree from National Louis University in Early Childhood Education and a background in Special Education. Elizabeth Aguayo joins the 1/2 bilingual team. Elizabeth is a graduate of Illinois State University and completed her student teaching in Elgin. We also welcome Kaytie Pellegrine to the grade 3 team. Kaytie is a graduate of Lewis University and completed her student teaching in Addison. Mary Jo Ellers joins the grade 3 team. Mary Jo is a veteran teacher who used to work at Lincoln and is returning to us from Hunting Ridge School. Pam Patel is joining our grade 5 team. Pam is a veteran grade 5 teacher coming to us from Jane Addams. We also welcome Speech and Language Pathologist Mary Sheridan who comes to us from Whiteley School and School Psychologist Mariel Zambrana who comes to us from Lake Louise School. We also welcome Occupational Therapist Jenny Thomas. We also welcome new program assistant, Cara Fitzpatrick. Finally, we welcome Bill Vaananen, a recently retired music teacher from Glenview. Bill will be taking over for music teacher Mandy Wise while she is on maternity leave.
Our 19-20 theme is SOAR to Success. On our Lincoln School calendar, our monthly #Mission is listed at the beginning of each month. Our August/September Mission is SOAR to Infinity and Beyond: #loveoflearning. Every month each grade level team will recognize one student from each grade that exemplifies the monthly mission. The first week of school every student will decorate a wing for our display and share how they will SOAR to Success this year. The wings will be on display throughout the year in our main hallway.
Families are welcome to visit at Meet the Teacher on Tuesday, August 13 from 9:00 am - 10:00 am. Students can bring in their school supplies. Student agendas will be delivered to the classroom teachers for grades 3-6. $6.00 will need to be turned in to the classroom teacher for agendas. (Cash or check made out to Lincoln School.) Calculators, if needed, are available to purchase through the office. Grades 1-4 calculators are $4.00 and calculators for grades 5,6 are $15.00. Please check with your classroom teacher first before purchasing to make sure it is a need or optional. We look forward to the start of the 19-20 school year!

Lincoln PTA 2019-2020
Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much!
Welcome to the 2019-2020 School Year!
The Lincoln PTA welcomes you to the start of another school year! We are working hard on planning a great, fun-filled year coming up for all of our Lincoln families!
Our theme this year will be TEAM, Together Everyone Achieves More. Being involved and working together is what Lincoln’s PTA is all about!
I have always joined the PTA since my kids started school. Yet until I really became involved, I didn’t really realize how much PTA does for our school and students. It gave me a whole new outlook on just “joining to join.” When parents join the PTA, it shows our kids we’re invested in their education and are invested in their success. Please come to our monthly meetings if you haven’t done so already and see what we’re all about. Also, please come to some of our events such as the Family Kick-Off Dinner, our Ice Cream Social, or our monthly Rec Nights. The first Rec Night of the year will be on September 18 at 7pm. Be involved if you can. We are always looking for volunteers. We will be sending out a volunteer sheet soon if you want to sign up to help out at any of our events. The kids love when they see their parents helping out at school events.
We will help you stay connected throughout the year via email, Facebook, Twitter, our website, as well as monthly electronic newsletters so we are constantly staying in touch! Below are links to some documents Lincoln families can access for PTA:
