OR
Sunday, September 23rd, 12:30-2:00 pm
Both held in the Parish Office
Beginning with the FALL of 2018 we will be putting a renewed effort on having all of our teens who lead youth or children’s activities trained.
Are you between the ages of 13 & 17 and work with children? Do you want to work with children in the future (CYO Basketball, Faith Formation, Liturgy of the Word for Children, Country Fair, etc)?
All youth, 8th -12th grade who work with and have substantial contact with children should participate in “Worthy of the Call”. This workshop will be offered multiple times through the year. There is no fee for this program.
The training consists of a video and reflection questions that cover topics such as the purpose of Youth Ministry, ways that you can protect yourself as a volunteer, signs that a young person is experiencing a crisis, and how to handle a young person in crisis. At St Pius Tenth Church we take the protection of our children, youth and vulnerable adults very seriously. We are proud to have over 250 people (clergy members, teachers, parish staff and adult volunteers) who have participated in mandatory background checks, abuse-prevention training and signed code of conduct guidelines through our Creating a Safe Environment program. Summer Service
Homeless Outreach with Blessed Sacrament
August 28th, 9:00 pm Midnight
Teen Volunteers made sandwiches and joined the the regular volunteers from The Southeast Rochester Catholic Community who go out monthly to offer assistance and overnight shelter to those who find themselves homeless.
The focus of this ministry is to help homeless people connect to the social service system so they might find permanent housing and access benefits for which they may qualify.
Along with volunteers, the team can include various dedicated professionals: social workers, doctors, nurses, representatives from service agencies, a driver for the bus use for transportation, and police officers as escorts.

Making sandwiches for the Outreach Ministry We made our sandwiches extra meaty and food bags extra good - as though they were going to Christ himself! | Our teens with the Outreach Team Small groups of the Outreach Team would go and politely approach the site where homeless people are staying asking if they wanted food or toiletry bags and identifying themselves as from St Mary's/Blessed Sacrament. | Our teens & the Outreach Team The folks at Blessed Sacrament/St Mary's were very kind in helping our teens to have a safe but meaningful experience. |
