Field Day
There are still spaces left to help out!!!
Field Day will be here before we know it! It is scheduled for Friday, May 19, 2023! We will do everything we can to have it that day but we do have a RAIN DATE of Friday, June 2nd. Please sign up if you can make it on May 19th; if we do need to postpone and you can’t make the rain date we can switch around volunteers at that time.
Field Day is a fun-filled day for the whole school. It is a day filled with games, teamwork, competition, and FUN! Each class will rotate between stations throughout the day. Each station needs two parent volunteers to help run the station. Games and instructions will be provided to you. The teacher will also be with the students; you are there to explain the game and help supervise.
Click on the website link. The website is still under construction but I wanted to get out the volunteer sign-up so that we have enough volunteers for the day. There are two things to look at when signing up:
- Go to the Schedule page and see when your child will be at what stations. You only get to run one station in the morning and you can run the same or a different one in the afternoon. Try to pick a station that you will see your child.
- Go to the Volunteer Information page and click on the "Sign up here." Sign up here for Grades K-2 and sign up here for Grades 3-5.
It's one of the BEST days of the school year! We hope you can be a part of the FUN!
Thank you so much!!!

5th Grade Parents!
Fifth Grade Parents,
Practices start NEXT WEEK! They will be held during school hours to make it easier on parents and encourage maximum participation. We just need two things from you, the parents: fill out the permission slip on the Google doc and bring them to Lip Sync on Friday, March 17th at 7:00pm at Indian Crest Middle School. All students who participate in the Lip Sync must have the permission filled out!

First In Math is an online math practice tool that strengthens students' fact fluency, promotes computational thinking, and provides fun, engaging math games to help math skills become automatic. It is available to all students in the Souderton Area School District in grades K-8.
A Family Link account is also available for every registered player. This account provides full access to the site so that someone from home can join in the fun math learning! Players are awarded virtual stickers for playing math games, and they can earn other virtual awards like badges and certificates that are sent right to their First In Math inbox. This is all very motivational, and we decided to supplement with some small prizes to bolster the program this year at Franconia Elementary. We are also an anchor school for First In Math this school year. This means that we are receiving special support from the company to support this wonderul program!
Many classes have a Player of the Day badge that is given to the student who earned the most stickers during the previous day. The student proudly wears the badge throughout the day and often shares their pride with friends and teachers. We have a Wall of Fame to display students' achievements as they reach First In Math milestones or complete goals. We announce Teams of the Week for each grade level every Monday. Classes who get the most stickers the previous week get a trophy that they get to display in their room for bragging rights, and a trophy sticker on our poster display in one of the main hallways for everyone to see! On the first day of each month, one player from every grade level gets a Player of the Month yard sign personally delivered by Dr. Heineck. Players of the month for December and January are listed below this article.
Franconia Elementary is very proud to be the top school in the entire district for First In Math! At the time that this article was written, our Falcons solved 3,811,788 math problems! In addition, we currently have 22 Grand Champions! This is an amazing First In Math milestone. The 22 students have earned 10,000+ stickers in the game (some are already in the 14-15000 sticker range!) and have each solved a minimum of 30,000 math problems! And we have 29 more students who are in the 7000 or above range and on track to become Grand Champions before the end of the school year. Congratulations Franconia Falcons! You are truly rocking math this school year! Keep up the great work! Mr. Stover
From Dr. Heineck
Our expectation is that all of our students show safety, ownership, acceptance and respect. The teachers, staff members and myself are here to guide our students and help them make positive choices. Part of that is helping them learn from the choices that they make, both positive and negative. From time to time, a student needs support in reaching these expectations. We use green and blue behavioral forms as well as age appropriate consequences to provide teachable moments where students can grow and develop. You will be contacted by a teacher and the behavioral form will be sent home for you to sign and return. If you have any questions about our School Wide Positive Behavior Support plan, please contact your child’s teacher or myself.
In partnership,
Laura Heineck, Ed. D.
Franconia Falcons SOAR to success!
Safety
Using expected behaviors both in and out of the classroom so everyone feels comfortable and supported at school.
Ownership
Taking responsibility for choices and actions at school and showing pride in yourself and your work.
Acceptance
Treating peers and others with respect and kindness while embracing our differences.
Respect
Caring how your actions impact others and yourself.
Attendance Reminder
It is important that the school receives notification of a student's absence for that day.
Please know that emails accomplish both notifying and excusing your child(rens) absence.
To report an absence, please contact
Mrs. Wett at attendFR@soudertonsd.org.
Cold Weather Reminder
Dear Parents:
Now that the cold weather is upon us, we want to ask you to remind your child to wear a coat, hat, pants, and mittens or gloves to school. We are outside for recess when the actual temperature is 16 degrees or above. A shortened “cold weather recess” will be in effect when the temperature and/or wind chill is between 15 and 20 degrees. In order to protect the health of our students, we want children to go outside wearing adequate protection.
Thank you for your help in reminding your child to wear his/her winter gear to school.
