Welcome Back: A New Way to be Affton Strong
Dear Affton Families!
I hope this finds you and your family well. Welcome to this new phase of education at AHS. We have been working extremely hard in the background throughout all of Spring Break to do our best to be ready for this eLearning space. None of us know exactly how to do this, we are all new to this. I ask you to give it your best to support the learning at home and we will do our best to provide all the tools you need for that to be successful. In the next two weeks you can expect the assignments to be enrichment based. That means they are there for the kids and will be used for learning’s sake, not for a grade. Please reach out to the teacher if you have any questions at all.
With that said, if your student is taking an Advanced Placement, dual credit or Launch courses you can expect those to continue as they always were. The outside agencies we partner with for those have expectations that we must meet for the kids to get credit. Again, please reach out to the teacher if you have any questions!
Hopefully most of you were able to answer your calls from the AHS staff today but if not, they will be trying again tomorrow. We appreciate the moment to touch base with you to ensure we all are ok in this situation.
The AHS administrative team will be checking in with our staff each day to keep a close eye on how things are going. I will do my best to stay in contact with all of you and let you know as things change. Obviously with the call to extend our time away through April 22, we will need to regroup to discuss our more long term plan for teaching and learning. Stay tuned and please email me with anything I can assist with. I can’t imagine how you all must be feeling taking all of this on. We are here for you. We are a team. We will be ok!
Let's do this!
