SMLS Staff for 2022-2023
I am happy to announce that after interviewing all summer we have hired close to 20 new staff members including teachers, teaching assistants, and staff for Before Care and After Care. Please find a list of all teacher assignments as a separate attachment in the School Messenger you received today. We have been blest with an AWESOME staff for the 2022-2023 school year!
School Security Update: Visitor Entry System
Enrollment Update
SMLS has continued to grow and we will be welcoming about 365 students in September. We added an additional 6th grade homeroom splitting last year's 5th grade class into two homerooms. SMLS now has two sections at every grade level except for PreK 3. In order to make space for another homeroom 7A has been moved into the science lab. In order to preserve the functioning of the lab, we have purchased lockers for the students in 7A since we did not have room for a coat closet for the students. 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students will all still have access to the lab for science class.
HELP WANTED: GRANT WRITER
We are hoping that we have a parent or someone else in our school community who would volunteer their services in helping to write the grant. If you are interested, please reach out to Maria Sobel at msobel@smlschool.org.
Summer Assignments & School Supply Lists
Supply lists for each grade level can also be found on our website under Academics/Grade Level/Supply List. In addition to these supplies most grade levels also have items that can only be purchased through the school. A list of what your child needs will be sent home for you to review and sign. The charge for the supplies the school is providing will then be paid through the Incidental Billing feature of FACTS.
Please call the Main Office with any questions you may have as you prepare for our new school year.
Homeroom Assignments for 2022-2023
Car Rider Line
We know that many SMLS families carpool and although SMLS will not arrange the carpool itself, we will be looking into how we can help to facilitate for families.
You will be receiving a separate letter that will provide you with the "Ins and Outs of Car Rider Line". Please remember that the first 2-3 weeks of school may be challenging and it will most likely take longer at arrival and dismissal. Please be patient and remember that in no time at all we will have all the students dismissed in about 10 minutes from start to finish!
If you haven't already done so, all families who live within 2-20 miles of SMLS are reminded to complete one B6T form per student in order to ensure their $1,000 aid in lieu.
Paid Lunch Program in 2022-2023 School Year
We will be meeting with Nutriserve to confirm all of the above information and you will then be sent more details.
We are hopeful that the PTA will be sponsoring Chick-fil-A lunches on some of our early dismissal days and on days when the public schools are closed. If you are interested in volunteering to help out with the lunch program, please contact Marybeth Hopson in the Main Office. Stay tuned for more info!
Incidental Billing Will Continue in 2022-2023 (Originally published in Summer 2021)
- The school business office will apply charges to your account as they are incurred.
- You will be notified via email of the charges (type and amount) and the date they are due. You then go into your account and pay the fee/charge.
- Families can access their online payment plan and incidental billing account any time to view their activity, payment history, outstanding balance, etc..
