Beginning Monday, September 21st, on campus instruction will resume with normal school hours Monday through Friday.
All students PreK-12th grade will be required to wear a mask until further notice.
Students who have Remote Learning listed on their schedules in iNow will remain on Remote Learning until the end of the nine weeks, October 23, 2020.

REMOTE LEARNING ATTENDANCE
Remote students are required to login to their Remote Learning Canvas course daily to be counted as present. If a student does not login, parents have 3 days to email an absence excuse to bhsattendance@mcssk12.org.

BHS teachers will utilize Canvas to communicate assignments and activities for students throughout the Remote Learning Period. The Canvas Parent Help Guide can be found --> HERE.

LUNCH PROGRAM @ BHS
Students can pick-up a hot lunch (+breakfast) from 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., daily. The pick-up line will still be in the back parking lot behind the cafeteria.
ALL schools in the Madison County School System have been approved for a USDA waiver allowing us to provide breakfast and lunch meals for virtual, remote, and traditional learners at no cost to families. We are approved through December 31, 2020. Please continue to complete and submit applications for free and reduced meals as usual so correct statuses will be in place when the waiver ends. - This applies to ALL students (full price, reduced, and free) under 18 years old.
- Meals may be picked up at any MCSS school.
- If you have children in multiple schools, you may pick up all meals at one school. You do not have to travel to each school.

STUDENT PARKING @ BHS
PARKING INFORMATION:
Students who drive on campus (face-to-face & remote) must have a parking sticker on the vehicle they drive on campus. Students must also park in the student parking lots behind the cafeteria & football field or by the baseball field. Students are NOT allowed to park in faculty parking spots or any other spots that are not designated as student parking. Fines will be issued to any student who does not follow these procedures.
INSTRUCTIONS:
If you have not already purchased your parking sticker, students will need to come to the MAIN OFFICE to pick up a Vehicle Registration Card (blue card) to complete and get signed by a parent before purchasing a sticker. Students must bring their own COPY of their Driver’s License and Insurance Card (Due to COVID-19, we WILL NOT make copies). Students must wear a mask to come into the building.

On Tuesday night the Bucks swam at Cullman in a Triple Dual Swim Meet. Buckhorn's Boys beat Cullman (39-34), Gadsden (55-16), and Athens (56-21). First Place winners for Buckhorn were Addison Campbell (50 Free), Ethan Amos (100 Free & 50 Breast), and Reid Crisler (200 Free). The Girls beat Gadsden, but lost to Cullman and Athens!! #GoBucks #BuckPride

Underclassman pictures from August 24th have been processed. Access codes for viewing the pictures online at www.lifetouch.com have been distributed to the teachers--in most cases, your child's 1st block teacher. If you have not received the access code or if your child is a remote learner, then to quickly obtain it, either use the chat feature on the Lifetouch website or call 1-866-955-8342.
Underclassman Picture Retake Day will be Monday, September 28th in the Gold Gym. F2F (face-to-face) learners will be photographed during their social studies classes. Remote learners do not have to sign up and may come to the school to be photographed anytime from 8:45 AM-11:45 PM and 1:00 PM-2:00, provided that they maintain a distance of six feet from others and wear a mask.

Congressman Mo Brooks’ Academy Day on 9/27 from 2-4 PM at the Huntsville Botanical Gardens. The flyer states the gathering is for the Class of 2025 however, all students interested in attending any of the military academies are encouraged to attend as well.

Elks National Foundation Scholarship - 11/15/20
ELKS NATIONAL FOUNDATION 2020-21 MOST VALUABLE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP applications are now available. Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need.
Eligibility:
Current high school seniors, or the equivalent, who are citizens of the United States are eligible to apply.
Applicants must be citizens of the United States on the date their applications are submitted; permanent legal resident status does not qualify.
Students that are interested in applying must visit enf.elks.org/mvs to complete and submit the application.
The application deadline is November 15, 2020.
In addition, Huntsville Lodge No. 1648 will award several - $1,000.00 one-year scholarships. These will be selected in March, 2021. Interested students may email me at tharper@culliganhsv.com for an application. If a student has entered the ENF Scholarship contest online, then they are automatically eligible for our local scholarships and need not complete an additional application.

T.O.C. ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Every year the Athlete of the Year campaign, powered by Huntsville Hospital Sports Center,
TOC Sports and D1 Sports, looks for high school senior student athletes who excel
on the field, in the classroom and in our community.
From August to April, a panel of judges selects one Athlete of the Week. Applicants must be a high school senior, have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and display a history of athletic and academic accomplishments, as well as community/civic involvement.
At the end of the school year, all weekly winners are invited to a banquet held in their honor.
Two students are selected as Athletes of the Year and will each receive a $1,000 scholarship.

The Round Up Program was started by The Schools Foundation and Huntsville Utilities to support local public school systems. The Schools Foundation is a funding partner of Madison County Schools. The more residential and commercial locations that round up, the more funding we can receive. Estimates show that if just half of the residential Huntsville Utilities users rounded up, it would generate approximately $500,000 to support our schools!
