Pottsboro Area Library & Friends

Pottboro Area Library - Now a Family Place!

As a Family Place Library, we do far more than provide children’s books: we serve as community gathering place that promotes emergent literacy, supports healthy child and family development, and encourages lifelong learning. We have a specially designed area that welcomes families with young children with a wide assortment of books, toys, music, and multimedia materials. The space, with its collection of books, magazines, DVDs, brochures, and flyers on parenting issues, is also a resource hub for parents.

Summer Reading Challenge

Win a prize for you and party for your community

This year's Summer Reading program is in full swing and it's not just for children. We are inviting the entire community to participate! It's as easy as 1-2-3.. or ABC. .Pick up a form at the library or download one from our website. Complete activities A through Z and turn in the form. Then, pick a prize! At the end of the challenge, August 11, we will count up the points. If we reach 5,000 points the entire community gets a free outdoor movie night. Let's make it happen!

We Love Donations - Especially DVD Movies

If you have DVDs sitting on the shelf, consider donating them to the library. Our movies are very popular with patrons, and there is always a need for new titles. We accept any type of movie on DVD.

Friends of the Pottsboro Area Library

While most cities have a tax base that supports a public library,100%, we are different. The City of Pottsboro provides money for a part time employee, utilities, maintenance and discretionary funds. The Friends of the Pottsboro Area Library, a 501(c)3 organization, support ongoing programs, buy (and sell) books, provide building insurance, and are responsible for other library-associated expenses. We are also supported by grants, donations, fundraisers and annual memberships. Memberships are available year round and forms are at the library. We welcome your ideas and invite you to our monthly board meetings (second Monday each month @ 1:30 p.m.) or help with specific projects. This is a perfect way to support your library and community. Call or email Ann Murray at 903-786-8274; amurray@cityofpottsboro.com for details.
