August 2021

Note from the Principal

Welcome back, Mohawks! I hope you have all had a wonderful Summer 2021! We are ready to welcome you into the building this year. If you didn't have an opportunity to read the SES Success Plan, a link is included. You'll find several important notes of interest in this Back To School edition of Tribe News. Thank you for taking a few minutes to review.

I'm looking forward to a great year! Stop by for a visit or to just say hello. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you or your student.

BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT!!

We are looking forward to welcoming students and families into the building on Tuesday. Students can bring their supplies so they don't have to transport them on the bus Wednesday morning.

Preschool and Kindergarten students: 5:00-6:30

1st-5th Grade: 5:30-6:30

  • Meet the teacher and other staff members
  • See your friends
  • Find out information about transportation
  • Pay textbook rental fees
  • Drop off any required documents with Mrs. Stanton (birth certificates, immunization records, etc..)
  • Drop off any medication and appropriate documentation with Mrs. Hudnall
  • Learn about opportunities to get involved at your school

AFTER SCHOOL CARE

We have partnered with the Shelbyville Boys and Girls Club to provide after school care. If you are interested, contact the club for registration. WES will transport students to the Club from Waldron. Transportation will only be for K-5 students. Our activity buses do not have appropriate booster seats for preschoolers. Stop by the Transportation tables during Back To School or call the office (765-544-3331) to add your child's name to the transport list.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR

WES is taking a field trip!! I believe this is a first for our school? We are going to the STATE FAIR! On August 13th, students in grades 1,3,5 will attend. Students in grades K, 2, 4 will attend on August 20th. We will NEED many chaperones. There will be no cost for students, staff, and chaperones. WES PTO is helping cover the cost of student admission. You will have the opportunity to sign-up during Back To School Night.

While at the fair, we will not be riding rides or playing carnival games. We will follow agendas set for schools. Lunch will be provided by WES.

We hope you can join us!

Drop Off and Pick-Up

  • *To access WES, head south on Race Street (you will end on the south side of Kuhn Storage and looking at the school)
  • Staff members will be present to help direct 8 cars at a time into the drop-off/pick-up area.
  • All car riders will be assigned a number. IF your family had a number last year....it will be the same. We have new hangtags and backpack tags for anyone that doesn't have one.
  • To help ensure the safety of ALL during pick-up and drop-off...adults should not exit the car.
  • IF your child needs seatbelt assistance or to be buckled into a booster seat, your child will load the car and you will pull forward to the designated area (see yellow star on map). You will then be able to exit your car to buckle your child's seat.
  • Please DO NOT block any driveways along the route.
  • Mrs. Melissa will be at the 4 way directing traffic. If she is not at her spot, please follow the 4-way stop signs as HS students might also be leaving the campus.
