6th graders practiced their keyboarding skills this week. Their goal the past few weeks has been 13 wpm with 90% accuracy. Their goal goes up to 16 wpm after we return from spring break. They may practice their keyboarding anytime at typingtraining.com. Students can even use their Chromebooks to practice anywhere they have an Internet connection. They all have their login information. If you have any issues logging on at home, please email me. You can monitor your child's progress at home and school by going to the reports menu after they have logged into Typing Training. Many computer students email to ask login information or for me to assign specific assignments on typingtraining.com. I welcome these emails and respond as soon as possible. 6th graders also They also completed a mini-unit on Computer parts this week. The next unit of study will be on computer storage device and storage capacity.

Artfully yours!
Mr Chapman
FMS Art teacher
*Special Note: Mr. Chapman has been at home ill for the past few weeks. We look forward to him returning to FMS and his art classroom as soon as he is 100% healthy again. In the mean time we are fortunate to have Mrs. Nancy Foote subbing and making lesson plans for all art classes 6th-8th grades. Mrs. Foote taught art classes at FMS for 31 years before she recently retired. We greatly appreciate her stepping back into the classroom and FMS during this time. We also send positive thoughts for Mr. Chapman's swift recovery.

6th Grade Band: Students will be working on pages 21-23 when we get back from Spring Break. ALL Students should take their instruments home and practice over break. The kids have done amazing and I cannot wait to see what they can accomplish throughout the rest of the year.
7th Grade Band: 7th grade band is now working on their new books in class. We have started a unit on scales and are working on concert Bb, Eb, F and C. The books will stay at school, but we have started a new warm up. Students received new sheet music for their concert in May and they are encouraged to practice over Spring Break.
8th Grade Band: 8th graders are working out of new method books that were ordered, and they are excelling in all aspects of their playing. The students have also received new sheet music for their last concert of the year that will take place in May.
Wire Choir: We are working on chord progressions from memory and earning rewards for learning standard notation. Students have also been able to choose songs that they would like to earn on a new app we are using online called songsterr.com. They are doing awesome and having some fun with independent learning. The Wire Choir will be performing at Playhouse Bistro downtown on April 7. An email will be sent home letting parents and guardians know when and where they can watch their students perform.
As always if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact us via email at sblandford@fulton58.org or kneudecker@fulton58.org. You can also call the high school band office at 573-590-8135.

HORNET SINGERS:
Hornet Singers...though they be but few, they be mighty!
We are now so excited to begin all of our pieces for our concert that will be Monday, May 8th. We started two of our pieces and already added some accompaniment with one! The students are so pumped about the new styles they are learning and I have greatly enjoyed seeing this excitement grow.
Keep Your Lamps Trimmed and Burning was an ensemble favorite but now Let Me Fly! has won their hearts. I encourage you to check these pieces out on youtube, you won't regret your decision.
Last week we started working more on our music literacy and we are sight-reading daily! Ask your student all about it...it's a game...it's a puzzle...it's FUN! :)
The choir handbook and schedule is online for your perusal anytime. (www.fulton58.org)
HARMONY HORNETS:
We are so proud of the hard work these students give every Tuesday! Our amazing group is made up of a mixture of 6th-8th grade (7th/8th band or guitar members) and has great energy and interest in making great music. Rehearsals are every Tuesday from 3:20 - 4:15 in the FMS choir room (G07).
We are having so much fun with our songs this semester and can't wait for our concert all about Spirituals!
If you ever have any questions, concerns, or comments, feel free to contact me at llehman@fulton58.org.
HORNET PRIDE:
We have begun our new repertoire! I'm truly impressed with how quickly our singers are picking up our new repertoire. The spirituals we are working on have been fun and , at times, challenging. Thanks for stepping up to the challenge, singers! Students are also practicing sight-reading using hand signs and the do-re-mi system.
PLEASE REMEMBER that choir members MUST be in uniform at ALL of our performances this year. You may purchase the required polo shirt by bring $13 ($15 for XL) to Dr. Moebes. You will receive a receipt for your payment.
ARTS ALIVE:
6th graders have completed some posters teaching others how to read music notes and rests. These are displayed in the music hallway. Check out the pictures below to see their great work!
CAREERS:
Thank you very much to Mr. Matt Gowin of Central Bank for visiting both Careers classes to teach us about finance, credit in particular. Students truly enjoyed hearing from you, and visiting with you!
7th grade Careers did an excellent job on their first field trip! We visited William Woods University on Thursday. In addition to touring the campus, and visiting the equestrian program, students heard a short college/career planning talk before enjoying lunch in the campus dining hall. Check out the pictures below!
Also, check out the link below for Financial Football! This is an awesome interactive game that goes along with our unit on finance. It has three levels of difficulty, and students must answer question to run a play! Lots of fun!
CALLING VOLUNTEERS FOR CAREERS CLASS! If you or someone you know would be interested in visiting our class to talk about your job or career field, please let me know. We are also looking for opportunities to visit local businesses. If you know of an awesome place, please share your ideas! Our students do best when they have the chance to interact with the people and resources in our community!

FMS Guidance: Mrs. Garner & Mrs. Horstmeier
Attendance Matters
Being in school all day, every day, helps your child get the most out of middle school.
Encourage good attendance with these ideas:
*Point out that there is no substitute for being in class. Your youngster needs to be present to hear teachers explain concepts, to participate in group projects and class discussions, and to ask questions.
*Schedule doctor, dentist, and orthodontist appointments for before or after school hours whenever possible. If you can’t, try to arrange them for lunchtime.
*It will be easier for your child to get up on time for school if he or she has had at least nine hours of sleep. Set a reasonable bedtime, and make sure he or she puts away electronic devices so he or she isn’t tempted to stay awake to read messages or play games
Here are a few ways you can reach out to us in the FMS Guidance Office:
Mrs. Garner works with students with last name starting with M-Z and can be reached at sgarner@fulton58.org,
Mrs. Horstmeier works with students with a last name starting with an A-L and can be reached at shorstmeier@fulton58.org and
Ms. Jo is the Guidance Office secretary and can be reached at jwilliamson@fulton58.org.
Guidance Office phone number is 573-590-8208
