Get Up & Get Moving
Tuesday, November 1st from 3-5:30 pm - Tennerton Elementary
In an effort to promote healthy lifestyles among the children living in and around the local Buckhannon area, the WE LEAD Appalachian Experience team is looking for volunteers to travel to Tennerton Elementary school and play games with the children. Student volunteers play a variety of sports with the children and spend a lot of time talking with the kids. The event is a lot of fun for the children, and they always look forward to spending time with the old college kids. If you are interested in reducing obesity rates among youth or just have a passion to help local kids, this is the event for you. To sign up, visit OrgSync and click on the right event here: https://orgsync.com/143599/events?view=upcoming or email Dylan Ringer, Jackson Carey, Mason Winkie, or Faith Johnson.

Our Children Our Future Candidate Forum: November 1st
Some communities use their Candidate Forums to highlight an important local child poverty strategy – like community gardens. Others use them as family fun nights. Many include job fairs in their Forums. And others use their Forums to launch voter registration or increase voter turnout. This event will be held in the social hall, so come on out for a great time and a chance to meet your local candidates!
Speaker Barbara Amaya, Survivor of Trafficking: November 9th
Pet Adoption Event: November 15th
The WE LEAD Animal Welfare Team will be partnering with the Lewis/Upshur Animal Control to host an adoption event on campus. It is understood that not all students are able to adopt a pet at this time, but it's a great way to get the animals some attention and for us students to reduce stress. The event will be held outside, weather permitting, from 5-7 PM. Rain location is the Social Hall.
