What is new?

Wow, I can't believe it is already November. I know this month is going to fly by as November and December always does. We have had some pretty nice weather thus far!

Last week we had our first Author Celebration with other Kindergarten friends. The kids worked really hard and their Personal Narratives and soon they will bringing those home.

Starting Monday is Healthy Choices Week. A flyer came home last week explaining the days coming up.

On Monday it is "SKIP THE SWEETS"! You can start bringing in your cans for the canned food drive. We will be competing against the other classes so we want to bring as many cans this week as we can. :)

I exercise...do you?? There is the new bulletin board theme outside the gym doors. We would like for all students and staff to bring in a picture of them doing their favorite exercise/sport and we will post them on the themed bulletin board. Students make sure to put your name, grade level and teacher's name on the back of the picture so we can get it back to you.

Please turn in all pictures to Coach Brown in the gym. Let's fill this bulletin board full of students and staff exercising!!

What we learned!

Readers Workshop-We have taken familiar texts we have read thus far and looking how readers can infer characters, feelings and traits.

Writers Workshop-We have just begun Unit 3 in Opinion Writing. Last week we just wrote down things we like and don't like to help us plan our writing. We started late in the week stating our opinion on the first page and now just adding reasons why. Some of the focusis to add words that share that my opinion and adding drawings that provide details. This unit will take up until Christmas break.

Math Workshop-In Math we have been finishing up Unit 4. We have looked at Hexagons and how we can make them using other familiar shapes we have like rhombuses, triangles and trapezoids. We will be looking at weight and capacity this next week.
