We are excited to add a 3rd counselor back to our staff. We have selected Tana Hoover from MBHS. She is knowledgable, has a "can do" attitude, and I can tell she will bring a positive and fun energy to our campus. I know the students are going to love her. Being an OSU fan had nothing to do with the decision. :) We will divide the counselor alpha into thirds like the AP's and she will align with Stewart's alpha (A-G).
Tana will begin with us on Oct. 7th. Thanks for making her feel at home.
From Tana:
Hello CMS! My name is Tana Hoover, and I am so excited to be joining you as part of the counseling team, with Courtney and Christal. This is my 17th year in the classroom; with the last 10 years at Boyd HS, teaching Agriculture and Floral Design. I also bring several years of MS experience with me, both as a core and elective teacher in Amarillo ISD. I recently graduated with my Master's Degree in school counseling, and am so excited to begin working in this new role.
My wife, Monica, is a dyslexia specialist for the district. We have a 5 year old son, Canon, who is in Kinder at Webb Elem. We also have two furry children, Max and Marley. I am originally from the great state of Oklahoma, growing up in a tiny town in the panhandle. Outside of family and work, I also love traveling, fishing/camping, and watching college football. I'm looking forward to a great year ahead, and can't wait to meet each of you!

Kudos!
Thank you to Shellie and the PALs for stepping in and preparing the CREED game materials. It was a huge help and I appreciate it so much! - Marian
Coach Holt,
Just a quick note to let you know we think you guys are doing a great job with the boys! I know too often coaches don't hear a word from parents unless they want to complain about something so thought I would share a compliment with you instead. It's been fun to watch all the boys grow each week. Keep rolling! Cameron is loving it!
Grateful,
Happy Parent
Nicole and Coach Torres,
I just have to say that I LOVE having the video playbacks of the games. So professional and engaging. Way to take it to the next level! You are always going above and beyond to make the CMS Broadcast even better. Thanks for all you do. -Trisha Stanley
In response to a personal, positive email home...
Mr. Moore
Thank you very much for your note. We hope that our children are realizing their potential, and it’s reaffirming when they receive praise such as this. Proud doesn’t begin to describe our feelings. She places a lot of pressure on herself. Often, we find ourselves trying to help her cope with stress, rather than pushing her do more. She speaks very highly of you as well, and we appreciate what you do for our child. Science and math are her two favorite courses, and I’m sure that it has more to do with her teachers than the subjects. We could send her to any middle school in the district, but we chose Cockrill because of teachers like you. Thank you, again, for taking the time to let us know how she’s doing. We’ll make sure to give her a hug and a high five for making such a good impression and being a great kid. -Happy Parents
Susan Delacroix,
I just wanted to send some kudos your way. I have a student in detention today and when he came in he was respectful and followed the rules of detention. I noticed him quietly get out his Advisory folder, look at his grades, make an action plan and start working on his missing assignments without being prompted.
This would not have happened without your guidance during CREED. We don't always get to see the fruits of our labor first hand so I wanted to send you this positive email about how you are making a positive difference.
Have a great weekend and thank you for all that you do.

Before I leave the parking lot, I wanted to send you a note letting you know just how well Coach DeLaGarza handles herself in games. When refs seemed to be calling things against our team, she didn’t argue. When the girls mentioned it in a huddle, she said “That’s okay” and then refocused them on creating a plan to keep moving forward. In addition, she encouraged the team to keep playing their best (that you can’t come back if you are convinced you are losing. You absolutely can come back if you play like you can.).
Regardless of this evening’s losses, Coach demonstrated character that (by far) sets us above other campuses. -Alisha Jonker
