Mr. Suminski's Message
Lincoln Families,
It's been a great start to the 3rd Quarter everyone! We have turned the corner to half-way into the school year! Keep up the great work. Parents should check the backpack tonight! 2nd Quarter Report Cards were distributed at the end of the day and students were instructed to bring them home! Also, 8th grade parents should look for a letter distributed to 2020 Graduates! Please take a moment to read through the letter carefully for information regarding graduation in June!
The winter weather has not been so bad, but history tells us that we will not escape its wrath in the months ahead. I ask that parents exercise extra patience and caution at drop off and pick up times, especially during inclement weather. Also, it is important that drivers respect the instructions of our crossing guards who are working to ensure the safety of our students. Also, should winter snows accumulate, our staff parking lots will lose spots to snow mounds. Our parking lots have a limited number of spots for staff to park; therefore, I remind parents that they may not park in the lots while waiting for drop off or pick up. We sincerely appreciate your cooperation in this regard.
Tonight is the PTO's Dynamite Night. It's a great night for a lot of fun. Our PTO's commitment to our school and its students is outstanding. Have a great time everyone.
Paul Suminski

GRADES 6 AND 8
FEBRUARY 4 AND 6, 2020
We want to share the following program descriptions provided by Robert Crown with our parents. Any questions may be directed to Mrs. Kelly Bailey at kbailey@d57.org or Mr. Seth Parker at sparker@d57.org Also parents may refer to the Robert Crown website: www.robertcrown.org
Life Begins: Grade 6 - February 4, 2020
Life Begins teaches reproductive science, beginning with the development of the reproductive organs and continuing through fertilization, implantation, gestation and delivery. The learning environment is comfortable and interactive, inviting relevant conversation and providing a useful supplement to school human development curriculum. The program’s highly visual presentations bring vivid detail to the miracle of embryology.
Program Goals: Students will…
· Increase knowledge about human anatomy and the reproductive system, reproduction, pregnancy and birth.
· Increase their comfort in discussing the reproductive topics.
Social Emotional Learning: Grade 7
· Social Emotional Learning topics are covered throughout the school year in Advisory and Health curriculum. There is no Robert Crown presentation for the 7th grade.
Teen Sexual Health: Grade 8 - February 6, 2020
This science-based health program provides students with straightforward information about sexuality and its risks, including teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted disease (STD). Students explore the psycho-social, economic, and academic outcomes of teen parenthood as well as the consequences of an STD. Educators teach skills for making responsible sexual choices based on the program content.
Program Goals: Students will…
· Increase their knowledge about human reproductive anatomy and the impact of sexual activity on a teenager’s well-being (physically, mentally and socially).
· Feel empowered to take personal responsibility for increasing their total wellness (including sexual health) and to increase student disapproval of risky sexual activity.
· Develop strategies and tools to make healthy decisions and explore alternatives to sexual activity.
