Dear District 41 Community,
The Board has directed the district to plan for a full in person traditional schedule starting sometime in April (date TBD). On Thursday, March 18, a commitment form will be available in Skyward. Please complete this commitment form for each child in District 41 by Tuesday, March 23 at noon.
PLEASE NOTE: If the form is not filled out, the default will be the full remote model.
I want to share more information about the two models that will be offered. I understand that this is a big decision for all families. For some this is an easy decision, for others there is a lot to consider.
- PreK will be 8:50-11:20 a.m. or 12:40-3:10 p.m.
- Kindergarten will be 8:30-11 a.m. or 1:00-3:30 p.m. Kindergarteners will not engage in specials to allow for additional content time.
- Grades 1-8 will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Lunch will occur with 6 feet spacing and will be provided in classrooms and alternate locations (gyms, multi-purpose rooms, cafeteria, outside). Lunch in alternative locations will occur in picnic style. Lunch locations will alternate and students will be asked to bring a towel to enjoy lunch on.
- Students who are engaged in band will have additional PPE and instrument covers for additional mitigation.
- Specials/electives will occur daily during the school day.
- Classroom teachers may change.
- Students who are eligible for bus transportation will be on a bus with no more than 49 students and a driver.
- Recess will occur daily but will not involve playground equipment. Indoor recess due to inclimate weather will occur in the student’s classrooms at their seat.
- Students are required to self-certify in Skyward promptly before 7:30am. Students who do not certify 3 times will be moved permanently to full remote.
- Saliva testing will likely be mandatory for all in-person students. Students who do not test will not be allowed to be in-person for that week.
- Close contacts, quarantine and contact tracing may increase due to the 3 ft between kids
- PreK will be 8:50-11:20 a.m. or 12:40-3:10 p.m.
Kindergarten will be 8:30-11a.m. or 1:00-3:30 p.m. Kindergarteners will not engage in specials to allow for additional content time.
Grades 1-8 will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Specials/electives will occur daily but may be with a different specials teacher from the district
Students’ classroom teacher may change and students may be mixed across buildings.
- In some cases (AEC, band/orchestra, EL, Dual Language, and some electives at Hadley) may need to be lived streamed
- Schedules will change to reflect a full day of learning
- Students will have a 45 minute lunch break
Transportation
The commitment form in Skyward will also include a question about transportation. We will be limited to a max capacity of 49 students, plus the bus driver, on the buses. Bus eligible students who opt to use D41 bus transportation will need to meet the following criteria in order to board the bus:
Daily wellness self-certification completed by parent/guardian before entering the bus
Wear a mask while waiting for the bus, while on the bus, and disembarking from the bus
I appreciate your careful consideration and attention to this information. Having the commitment information for all students is vital to our planning for this transition.
